Downton Abbey

I'm just getting into this period piece series, and I love it! I love the setting, the costumes, the bitchy, stuck up women and the servants who have their own drama. I've only seen the first five episodes, and I can't wait to get more. I've also requested my husband refer to me as "your ladyship", but it hasn't quite caught on.

Hmm, glad you like our export. Personally, I thought it was just a piss poor rehash of the 1970s series Upstairs, Downstairs (that's on its way back as well).

Report: Watching Episode of 'Downton Abbey' Counts As Reading Book

WASHINGTON—According to a report from the U.S. Department of Education released Thursday, watching a single episode of the British TV series Downton Abbey is the cultural and educational equivalent of reading an entire book. "It's a period piece with British accents and drama that hinges on each character's place within an aristocratic peerage system, so needless to say, viewing one show from beginning to end is basically the same as reading a book," Education Secretary Arne Duncan said. "Also you really have to pay attention to the storylines, so it's also like reading in that respect. And it's not as if you can stop watching Downton Abbey for a while, come back to it, and remember exactly what's going on. You'd probably have to start over from the very beginning, just like you do with a book." Duncan then excused himself from the press conference so he could go home and watch a couple books before he went to bed.

Ghostie's just being coy. Wasn't it good of him to let the cameras in for that fascinating documentary.

Wrong on this occasion VB, although I did have a minor part in the production of Downtown Abbey. Watch the end credits the next time it is on, you'll see my name listed as playing Lady Mary's corset and assorted undergarments.

I'm not surprised since we can now count pizza as a vegetable.

Lady Mary, huh? That little tramp killed off the best looking guy on the whole show by allowing him to deflower her. The homely sister (Edith) will make sure she gets what she deserves....

I don't mind a good period piece every now and again myself... I just make sure we're not using the good sheets.

That's just foul Ivan.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I was gonna do the "Heh heh....I said 'period'" but decided not to. I didn't want to stain the forum with such explicit feminine hygiene chatter.

Heh heh....I said "stain".

I thought it was so 1913-ish?

I don't know anything about any Danish stuff unless I can find it in the bakery part of my grocer.
