It's funny how a $19.99 X-BOX game changed my life. The story in the Force Unleashed is more compelling than the prequels combined and won a WGA award for writing.

The Force Unleashed features a young man by the name of Galen Marek (codenamed "Starkiller"), the secret Sith apprentice of Darth Vader, and his missions as such in the year 2 BBY. In the first level of the game, you take the role of Darth Vader on Kashyyyk in search of a new apprentice. At the end of the level, Vader finds a young Starkiller, choosing him as his apprentice. Marek is dispatched by Vader to eliminate several Jedi who survived Order 66. His first target is Rahm Kota, who used militia instead of clones and thus survived Order 66. Starkiller sets out with his pilot Juno Eclipse and droid Proxy in order to track Kota down. After defeating both militia and stormtroopers alike, Starkiller finds the general, and defeats him in a fierce saber duel. However, during the duel, Kota predicts that Vader won't always be Starkiller's master, and that someday Kota will be instead. Starkiller casts Kota out of a burning space station re-entering a planet after blinding him. Not altogether sure that Kota is dead, he steals Kota's lightsaber and leaves. His loyalties are tested, and he eventually turns against Vader. I thought Star Wars was great when it came out, though being eight years old might have had much to do with it.

I enjoyed the "Star Wars" movies when they came out, but when "The Matrix" came out, that was the shit for me. Unfortunately the subsequent releases did not do the same. I lost that lovin' feeling, you know? But "The Matrix" is what finally got me into martial arts.

Star Wars was always something special to me and a lot had to do with my father. We loved Star Wars and watched it constantly. When I was younger and his company was just getting started money was tight and he would skip eating lunch at work and instead use the money to buy me Star Wars stuff. I came home one day from school and a remote controlled R2 D2 came out to greet me. Another time I came home and there was an Imperial Walker and so on.
It wasn't till my parents divorced that Star Wars reminded me that I only saw my dad once or twice a year and I kind of fell out of it. But having my own children and making new Star Wars memories with them brought me back into the fold. If you haven't watched A New Hope in a while you should.
