U2 - From The Sky Down

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

What killed Achtung for me was the drumming. I could see where they wanted to go and really needed Reni from the Stone Roses to do it.

Also, they would start out a song like Zoo Station with all these effects and distorted vocals and thirty seconds in it got all tame and just sounded like some Rattle and Hum reject.

AB was my last U2 album. Got three good tracks on it - the fly, zoo station and one -arguably one of their best ever songs, Rest is shite.

Is God Part II on that record? That one was good.

That was a great music documentary too. I really wanted to hate Jack White but I liked him more after this. Also, Page could have been a snob but he was modest and gracious. He did more in music than White or Edge all before Zeppelin and then he still has Zeppelin. It was also funny watching Page play the Sunday Bloody Sunday riff (I think) as The Edge explained. I'd like to see The Edge or Jack White play Ten Years Gone!

Just read an interview in Tape-Op with Steve Albini who said Jack White was the kindest guy ever. Had a real reputation for helping bands in his city.

I'm was (still am) a huge "October" fan, and then "War" came out and just blew me away. Wasn't into the stuff beyond "AB"....sat the next couple of albums out. Got back into them with "Atomic Bomb", but was disappointed with "No Line" even though I thought a couple of tracks were great. Bottom line is I can't listen to a whole album by them now with out skipping a few, and that never happened when I was younger.
