Well, Republican friends felt that Obama had very limited experience and came from one of the most corrupt cities in the country.

And a lot of Democrats wanted Hillary.

What I don't get is how come so many of these candidates have a direct line to God?
I've scoured the phone book and cannot find a listing.

You'll only get God's phone number when he decides you need to run as the Republican nominee for President, even if you're crazy as a dingbat, homophobic, want to turn the country into a theocracy, or if you look like a deranged gremlin.

The very sad thing is that there are no good candidates on either side. I cannot stand Obama, but the Rep. side isn't any better. We lose no matter who wins the election.

It has been almost ten years. The U.S. needs to find another target to bomb.

We conservatives say the same thing about the liberals when THEY win primaries, we just don't publish it online.

I feel bad for conservatives this year....it seems you all have to hold your noses when stepping into the voting booth.

Sad that Huntsman isn't more of a factor. I find him intriguing, and of this current lot of potential nominees, he seems to be the most viable candidate in a general election.

Oh well... he's too multicultural for many Republicans.

FYI: I am an independent and have been since I was old enough to vote.

I don't buy into that argument. I grew up in a very small, very conservative, very religious, very Republican Air Force/farming town and that place was more multicultural, diverse and accepting of differences than any other place I've spent any significant amount of time in including the bay area and Los Angeles. It would have been abnormal to not have friends from Korea, Japan, Germany, Guam, the Phillipines and Mexico. My best friend growing up and still my oldest friend was a gay, black dude who was one of the most popular and well liked people in school. It wasn't till I spent time in S.F. and finally moved to L.A. I realized people were expected stick to their own "kind".

Now I will say the one place where they seemed to practice what they preach is Seattle. That was one of those most welcoming places I've ever been to. I spent a week there helping a friend move and we were buying a fridge and like five people in the parking lot asked if we needed help. Same thing when we got to her dorm. People were offering to help and not accepting no as an answer. And when she was all set we tried to give them some money and they were all just help out if you see someone who could use it. If I wasn't ready to cut my wrists after a week of no sunshine I would have considered staying.

For every whack job conservative out there you can find a crazy ass liberal. Based on my experience I tend to think most conservatives and liberals are decent and fair minded people.

You also grew up in California, which culturally has always been a bit of a melting pot. I don't think the same can be said for a similar town in a southern or even a Midwestern state.

Sounds like you're making assumptions based on stereotypes. Growing up I used to spend half my summer vacation in Diamond, Missouri (population 900) and the other half in Espanola, New Mexico (population 10,000) and my experiences in both towns were similar to what I experienced growing up in central CA. I go to Texas and Wisconsin every year and I feel right at home with the people and after spending so much time in LA it makes for a nice change of pace.

And Huntsman comes across as a smarmy know it all asshole. I doubt anyone is too concerned about his being too multicultural.
