Happy Birthday David Bowie

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

I didn't even watch it; I got sidetracked by the Foo Fighters on sidebar

1977 was a good year.

I feel bad for Bowie. Seems like he's not as well respected anymore. There was some book on NY Punk and it just seemed like nobody liked him and thought he was a fraud. And when you have Mac talking shit about you, you know you've hit rock bottom.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Mac? The guy who used to walk around in an overcoat in the rain so he could be like him?

He really hit a wall after Let's Dance. And a lot of fans even consider that crap. I consider it a grandiose sell out with half an album of great songs.

Tin Machine was tough on the ears. And a number of albums after followed trends rather than set them. Perhaps that was the case in the 70s, but the flow of info was much slower so it was easier to get away with.

Most people are lucky to make one great song (Any bets Foster The People are never heard from again?). Bowie did well.

At 65, maybe it is time to call it a day. Or else write some more Low stuff from the perspective of a dying old man.

That performance of Heroes at Live Aid with the happy dancing back up singers in their 80'd duds was the worst. The worst.
