Problem as I see it is that a lot of these teenage girls went from Facebook to Twitter thinking it's the same thing. So they start making a fool of themselves publicly without setting any security settings. Reading some of her tweets [and of her sister], you are right - best not to look at it.

well i dont think you can stop people looking can you - see I dont even know myself. You can bar people from following. Mine uses it like chat so most of it makes no sense, then occasionally you get something you wish you hadn't seen - usually perving over some boyband or something.

You can stop people looking at it publicly by setting it to private, which is probably a good idea if they use it more like a personal chat room with friends like Mimi and your daughter appear to be doing. Your daughter's comments might appear on other public twitter accounts if she posted to those, but only her followers (who she has to approve) would be able to read her tweets that she'd posted on her account and respond to them. So if set private, Lucy could have still posted up a link of Mimi's twitter account if she'd been able to find the URL but we wouldn't have been able to view any of the tweets. It would have just given her name as @mimimcculloch, picture and stated that the account was protected. If that makes sense.
