Tell me about Red Dwarf

Postby black francis » Wed Dec 28, 2011 12:41 pm

Thanks to Kounelaki and Sir Robert Scott I have stumbled across something called "Red Dwarf" and have been reading up about it on Wikipedia.

Is it worth seeking out? From what I've read it seems pretty funny.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

It's hilarious. Cheesy 70s special effects only make it better.

As in:

Oh yes.

There was an American pilot version... don't bother with that, although Robert Llewellyn was still in that as Kryten. The later series of UK Red Dwarf was shit.

Pile of shite.

You reckon? I thought the first few series were good at the time, but the rest of the series was shite. Then that digital channel Dave did a one-off in 2009 which was totally crap. I think it's a bit dated now though. There is supposed to be a new series in 2012. I say bring back Chelmsford 123.

How are you liking Skyrim?

Series three is the best imo, it went a bit hit and miss after that and when one of the two writers left (Grant or Naylor? Can't remember which) it wasn't funny any more.
A new series in 2012? With the taxi bloke from Corrie? It'll be shite.

I probably watched it up to season six, but apart from the odd episode, like the one with Cat changing into Duane Dibbley and that one where they went to a parallel Earth where time went backwards, most of the programme is a blur. I think I stopped watching it around the time Chris Barrie left and they replaced him with a female hologram. And it wasn't even Clare Grogan.

The new series is being recorded now and will be shown on Dave in late 2012. Erm, yeah that bloke off Scrapheap Challenge will be on it too. I won't be watching it.

Apparently it's on Netflix so I'll be giving it a go this weekend.
