I would have no problem paying 8£ or 8€ for a Mac album.......... if it sounds good.

But the clip of the song "Lift me up" sounds really crap to me....

Maybe he should stop dope to finance his album, so that he could save money ?

These days I'd assume you can't sell albums based on one minute or so sample unless you are a really well known artist. Otherwise you'd only be relying on diehard fans - and they'd probably buy it even if it was an album of the singer humming while sitting on the toilet.

Hugh Cornwell is also using pledgemusic for his next album. I quite like the way he has done it - including a video explaining what he is doing (including a small percentage of proceeds actually going to a charity) and there are links (somewhere) to a couple of full sample tracks from the album, regular updates as well. Mac's though... hmm. But I suppose it's a bit early.

that sample doesn't do anything for me either and can't say I'm arsed about mac solo stuff. Might do if he was really doing a budget job, just him, the pinky and a drum machine in his front room, complete with traffic noises in the background.

yeah same here -- it sounds a but demoish -- but who knows maybe not
too bad !!

having a think about pledging

Ironically in Ireland when one was about 12 we would go through what was called confirmation -- a bit like barmitzah I suppose but in this you supposeldly receive the holy spirit -- although for some unfortunates all they received was Father Randies manhood up the a**e -- anyway I digress -- as part of being confrimed some of us misguided would take the pledge -- this was to agree that we would not touch alcohol.

so I find it ironic that MAC is flogging his tunes on Pledge ...

I think he needs to give up trying to sell albums. That industry is dead. Unless you sell millions there is no money in that anymore. He needs to clean up a bit, get a vocal coach and tour like crazy and put on good shows. None of this knock knock joke & insult the audience and lighting people crap. That's amateur hour or the ramblings of a bitter man. No one wants to hear his views on Bono either. It just sounds like sour grapes. Mac the Mouth may have worked when he was 20 something but not at 50 something. Time to move on or pack it in.

I reckon he should go the route of Daniel O'Donnell. He could wear a nice hand knitted jumper as well and get a more sensible haircut. He'd be onto a sure winner doing something as below. I reckon that would especially go down well with his ageing female fan base. It would be the best thing since My Lovely Mayo Mammy.

Does Mac ever play the guitar live anymore or would the instrument interfere with the drinking and the smoking?

He played guitar on his Slideling tour and it was the most animated and charismatic I have ever seen him post 1997.

Guitar suits him well.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I was just going to say this same thing. I'd rather he hung onto his guitar instead of that mic stand!

I think so, too. It's a shame he doesn't seem to play anymore.

Doesn't he play guitar at his solo shows? The Killing Moon started off with just him on the acoustic which gave me shivers and then the band joined in and I was blown away. The funny part is he was in a good mood about equipment issues and didn't make a fuss and came across really well where the no mark opening act, the female singer came across as a total bitch. There was a brief second where her microphone went out and she's flipping off the sound guy and screaming "fuck you!!!". The look on her face was just nasty. All I could think was who the fuck are you?
