Mac the arrogant rambling diva strikes again ...............

Postby oceanbrain » Sun Dec 18, 2011 4:35 pm

Saturday 17th academy gig, what a fucking shambolic pile of shit gig.[ have been told friday was equally embarrassing].Been to loads of bunnymen gigs since 1982,this was by far the worst ive ever seen,i know Mac has always had his moments at gigs, shame his "moment" lasted for the entire gig! Setlist ..... [ not in exact order]
Back of love
Crocs
Villiers Terrace
Stormy Weather
With a hip
My kingdom
Seven seas
Zimbo
Rescue
All that Jazz
In the margins
Pride
Stars are Stars
Rust
Killing Moon
Lips
.......................
NLF
Cutter
......................
Never Stop
Do it clean

Not a bad setlist i hear you say,not bad if Mac remembered the words & kept up with the band [at least half the set ,even missed a full verse of Killing Moon!!!! introduced as usual as the best song ever written "apart from whats coming out next march"[solo album-no reaction from Will] we heard all this bollox before The Fountain came out...ha....an album that good not one song of it on the setlist tonight!
Usual rants, shit inaudable "jokes", stopping songs dead, abusing Ste & Gordie [clearly both walking on eggshells & now just going through the motions ] Lips like sugar over 10 minutes long full of bullshit rant. After the Cutter stayed offstage for at least 10 minutes-whats all that about?-maybe Mac had gone for a shit.....nah maybe not,all the shit had come out of his mouth during the set.I could go on for ever here but i really cant be arsed [ just like you Mac ] If youre ill mate ,get well soon,if not then knock it on the head, never thought id say that but that gig was truly woeful......blah........blah.......blah

Same as that.

The gig sounds woeful.
The review posted here by Oceanbrain is very similar to the posts on EATB facebook.

There are also now a few mentions of Mac being ill, sincerely hope not.

He is coming across as mentally ill though . . . he can not stop blaming the band or any external situation.
Everyone on eggshells and no consistency except consistently letting everyone else down.

The booze & the drugs are taking their toll and the worst side of his personality is taking over.
The gigs are an embarrassment and he is to blame.

Too sad.

Maybe not a great show but in the years ahead I recon that you will be able to remember this night better than your past outings-

we enjoyed it

Six of us went on saturday night, one was not a fan untill he heard All My Colours. I was very happy with a change of set list and I can not understand why members on here that don't even go to live shows can have an opinion. We never heard one complaint about the gig when it had finished and everyone went away in good spirits.

They put on a decent show on Saturday, don't listen to the doom merchants, bit weird to hear Back of Love to kick off with but it was a good mix of songs (doing the recent Crocs/HUH and OR shows has definitely given them a greater song selection). So what if he forgets the words occasionally, Jesus, I pop into Tesco and forget where I've parked the fucking car! Highlights for me were Stars are Stars and Crocodiles and a cracking Cutter to finish things off (I know, I thought it was over after that one and would have been halfway back to the hotel when they played Never Stop/Do it Clean as were many others, bit pissed off about that). Not up to the heights of the Phil in September but still a memorable night.

Met Will in the afternoon when I went to collect the paintings, a real gent as always, can't wait to hear his new stuff.

First post on here!

I went on Saturday, I thought it was one of the better performancs of late to be honest.

Mac is Mac, but thought the band was tight, it was a much more diverse set than of late and there was a decent atmosphere.

One thing about recent gigs is that they stay in the memory, if not for the reasons the band might want, but this was actually a decent performance

How much are people paying to watch you do that?

It seems like the shows are unpredictable lately. You get a great show or a terrible one. I'm not sure if I want to invest in those odds myself.

Well....missed this Xmas due to having my kids but the Bunnymen/Mac have always been hit or miss. But I firmly believe that to be capable of being a great live band sometimes you might be shite.Id rather have that than Wedding Present-esque average all the time.

Looking forward to Crocs/HUH at Leamington and Buxton Opera House early next year.
