I think they were probably one of the main bands in 1997-1998 that every review said that seeing them live was a must do. I remember reading those kind of live reviews a lot particularly in the broadsheets.

I recall in the US they got quite a bit of press as one of the greatest comebacks ever, not to the extent in the UK of course but it was great seeing them on US TV.

1997 was an exciting year. I remember a bunch of articles/interviews, excellent album reviews, glowing live reviews and a sense of optimism about the Bunnymen not seen since Ocean Rain. It seemed like anything was possible.

But I'm sure playing with the Spice Girls was awesome too.

Since they didn't really break out of the college market in the 80's in the US they seemed to get much more press for this comeback 10 years later as a great influence on many bands.

Other than Later With Jools performing Nothing Lasts Forever and I Want to Be There, their reformation was that prominent here that they even got on TFI Friday on Channel 4 which back in the day was quite a popular show even if was fronted by the then annoying ginger that was Chris Evans.

Their performance at Glastonbury in 1997 was broadcast on Radio 1 in its full entirety as well as BBC2. I think the Bunnymen's last hurrah on mainstream British TV (other than on Jools Holland's show in 2009, which is about the only music show on UK TV now) was on a now long gone Saturday morning music show called CD:UK in 1999 performing Rust to 14 year old girls.

The hoodie must have been at the cleaners that day.

The hoodie was probably still being stitched together by Indian street kids in a Bangalore sweat shop when that was shown on TV, before being shipped out to C&A, Liverpool where Mac duly purchased it at a reduced price in the shop's closing down sale to be worn thereon in and for all eternity.

What a strange and magical journey for hoodie. They should make a children's book and a Pixar movie.

We need a "like" button for VT. Hey and don't you work in the movie business? Whip something up. You and TGOGP could be the creators of the next "Up"!

Thanks for posting that clip from TFI Friday on Channel 4. Is it me or does Ian and Will look like they were trying harder back then to dress cool and look cool. I just wish they would go back to trying to be the coolest band. I listened to Evergreen the other day and I have to say that it really is a great cd.

And then I bought the cd and realized Empire State Halo was the only good song on it.

Love Will's glasses and Ian's feet but don't like that guitarist (nothing personal just don't think he suited the Bunnymen)...
