Sigur Rós: 'We're just four dudes in a band'

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

This is one of the most awesome interviews I have ever read. Thanks, K.

;) cool, thanks K.

Any of you who like Sigur Ros might also like Olafur Arnalds.
He has supported them on tour.
I saw him support Ryuichi Sakamoto (namedrop ;)) last Tuesday night
and he was very good.

Ryuichi Sakamoto was brilliant too, by the way...

Don't know, most of Olafur Arnalds work seems to be piano-based film type scores in a similar style to Ryuichi Sakamoto. Haven't checked out anything else because of that. Anything you'd recommend?

Should also not be confused with Olöf Arnalds who is pretty appalling with her folky Icelandic songs. Always have tried to explore further Icelandic artists but haven't found anything decent to come out there since, well you know who...

Na, sorry. I just heard him on Tuesday night and found most of what he played beautiful. I especially like the Cello Song (I think it's called).
He does play piano-based scores with a synth background and it's very atmospheric just not half as amazing as what Sakamoto writes.

Don't like Gus Gus, although their remix of Hunter is cool.

Can't say I'm familiar with much of their work, mind you I don't spend that much time in lifts.

Some of their music (Gus Gus) reminds me of several drunken nights in divey nightclubs in the 1990s watching overweight 20-something women out on the razz, not wanting to be there at all and wishing I had better things to do.

Was it just Sakamoto and a piano?

Would suggest Dyad 1909 and Found Songs as good starting points.....

And if they float yer boat try and look out some stuff by Johann Johannsson I would recommend Fordlandia and Englaborn.........

Nope. He's on tour with a cellist and violinist. Well worth seeing.
