Julian Cope, Live in Liverpool

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Julian Cope, Live in Liverpool

Great show at Liverpool's Stanley Theatre last night. About a couple of dozen songs in all. I'm ashamed to say I'd never seen him live before and didn't expect him to be quite so animated and entertaining (I'd always imagined him to be a much more serious and aloof character).
Highlights for me were a cracking Sleeping Gas, Out of My Mind on Dope and Speed and Cromwell in Ireland. I'd have loved to have heard Reynard the Fox but I doubt he performs it these days. Big Nige on the drum must get a mention, I swear my fucking bowels shook when he hit that thing.
A great night, I hope he comes this way again as it was a superb performance.

He no doubt also thinks he's a vegetable.

Have to mention the taxi driver on the way up there, Mac would like this one. I mentioned who was playing, he'd never heard of him, then I said he was the singer from the Teardrop Explodes, again no recognition, then I mentioned they were from the same early scene as the Bunnymen to which he replied immediately "Oh yes, the Bunnymen".
