well buns came back with an album didn't they? Not just a bunchof highly paid (one assumes) fezzie appearances & a tour. Evergreen & waygtdwyl I reckon aren't a million miles away from the first bunch. Alternatively another bad or badly times career descision.

Be interesting to see what happens - might be like sleeping with your ex wife - ok for a bit but not long before youre reminded whyshe's and ex. Never into the roses that much meself. Handful of top songs admirttedly and the rest a load of wank.

Credit that they did return with an album what 13-14 years ago, but the "comeback" as such has been a flop don't you think? Given that they are now cashing in on this performing old albums in its full entirety/greatest hits perpetually to pay the bills, and ignoring a bunch of originally hired session musicians who should really now be officially part of the band. Not creating any great new music that gets anywhere close to the original stuff or even Evergreen/WAYGTDWYL? for that matter - at least I believe until "Little Randy Dwarf" and "I had a Wet Dream About A Castle" are released in 2020 as part of a digital ep package.

I think if the Stone Roses have any sense, some chicken in the basket comeback dates (as already announced), headlining Glastonbury I guess will be on the cards, followed by a nationwide arena-type tour with a new album and then disappear again. Seems to be the only way to do it without damaging your legacy. I'd give the same wise advice to Steps if any of them are reading this (which they are not), but without the comeback dates, new album and nationwide tour. In fact, they should just disappear again.

The problem with The Stone Roses live is that monkey boy is a truly fucking awful singer! Okay on record but live - yikes!

I heard about Monkey Brown's poor stage vocals - did you see them live then Dr Cheese? Personally, didn't care about the Stone Roses. Thought about seeing Ian Brown live later as I quite liked that song Corpses and the one where in the video he cycles around on a bike, erm, exactly like a clever monkey cycling around on a bike. Glad I didn't.

Completely unrelated to Stone Roses-- warning.

I live in a cycling town, in fact, the one in which the bicycle lane was invented. Often on the university campus, a guy could be seen commuting to work on a UNICYCLE, which technically isn't a bike.

I believe so. I don't recall a video featuring Ian Brown pogoing on a pogo stick or a clever monkey pogoing on a pogo stick. Maybe there is an alternative video with Ian Brown stilt walking on stilts or a clever monkey stilt walking on stilts. What about Ian Brown skateboarding on a skateboard or a clever monkey skateboarding on a skateboard? I'll have to look it up on youtube.

These two shows are guaranteed sell outs, they will start worrying after the initial show's are reviewed unless Ian brown has learned how to sing.......

define flop!! their initial crack at the whip wasn't commercially that great though we all tend to agree about the artistic bit. Those too albums stand up well i think, but by then its a different band. and yes, artistically dead in the water it seems at the mo**. Dont mind em doing that album thing though cant be arsed going myself any more, unless they play down the road i suppose. Isn't it the case with these reunions that most of em stay for a tour or two and then pack it in - though the pixies are still touring old material saying they're not likely to ever ever ever write any new stuff - but thanks for the cash. I'd stil say that the biggest issue is mac's voice is a shadow of its former self. and his lack of will in engaging positively withan audience. and the 'best band inthe world' bollocks and....

One of the key events in the modern comeback is to be the first to say its over, thus taking revenge for what happened the first time. Thats my theory. I may even be able to make up some evidence tro support it.

Not very successful album releases then. Siberia and the Fountain hovered outside the top 50 in the UK didn't they. I'd call them a flop as if they'd been more successful, I very much doubt the Bunnymen would be playing their early albums all the time.

Latest news, apparently, is Mac is off to the recording studio to record a new solo album (in addition to the live CD being mixed???), so the likelihood of new Bunnymen album before 2012 is now looking even more unlikely. In fact, I implore Mr Brian to rename this forum, Sgt Fuzz's Parlour of Pleasure.

now heres a funny thing, I was trying to think of positives in the last few years - albumwise, and siberia never entered my head, just flowers - which has a couple fo good songs on it (lol) and fountain, which is crap - though i still like the turin one for some reason. actually margins is quite good. finding it hard to disagree though gp.

I still believe my assessment that Siberia is half a great album. The songs (minus Parthenon Drive which is terrible) either have a great chorus or great verse but rarely (All Because of You Days being an exception) both. From The Fountain I like "Life of 1000 Crimes" and "Shroud of Turin"

Wasn't a big fan of Evergreen, WAYGTDWYL and Flowers even I spent years trying to convince myself otherwise.
