oh no, not another U2 thread...

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

oh no, not another U2 thread...

caught a bit of some documentary last night about the ewetoos. Missed the start, and the last bit (fell asleep), but quite good all the same, quite candid (though i still cant help the feeling that its all a bit, what's the phrase, er.... passive agressive in a way). Nevertheless, lots of old footage, not to mention film of the staring into space. even now rehearshing bonio seems totally in charge. and when going on about the achtung baby sessions in hansa, acknowledging that larry didn't really get it, but not mentioning the bleeding obvious that he turned up and they were using drum machines. must have been a bit of a kick in the teeth. mustr catch the rest one day when its not on so late....

You are aged 16 or older? So you'll have to tick "Yes, I am aged 16 or older" and press OK. Apparently, Bonio swears... probably at Larry.

The bit i saw he did quite a bit of that, at everybody. Inc some early footage moaning about stage techs not being able to do their job. Though one of them did say that the step up to stadiums (stadia) was a bit of a strain. As in it was just them. No mega technology. Kind of implying they brought that in to hide the fact they all have small penises. According to that book Larry was the only natural musician. The bass player was most Lily to foul up.

There was quite a bit of telling edge what to play. And to shut up. Apparently you can tell edges mood by just how loudly he tunes up. And we thought they were dull.

Judging by this video, The Edge suffers from a serious multiple-personality disorder. Probably got some kind of special drip feed of drugs under his beanie just to control it.

to be honest i do not believe one word that U2 say anymore

I think the whole thing is choreographed

I went to check something on shittypedia on Sunday night and on their making of achtung baby and it was nearly word for word what was on that documentary

it is all part of creating a folklore ....

how many bands have film crews in their studios when they are making an album?

some of it is so misty eyed -going on about the very last flight into berlin before unification -- so bleeding what --

as for that bullshit about electronic music dehumanising music so that the human in the song can be put back in or some crap like that -- shut the fuck up!! - the best bit was when they came across the chords for one .. oh god look theres any intersting chord progression -- isn't this amazing -- how we wrote that song and it brought us all together as a unit and saved the planet ...

that bollox shite talk makes me puke

I had a similar feeling about it being very controlled. Even so, from even the rehearsal footage there's no doubt about whose band it is. I like the fact that edge gets a bit cross. And at least Mac's not the only one whose rude to lighting chaps. Though maybe he's the only one who does it from the stage.

I've heard that 'one' story loads of times but this was the first time they said it was lanois who said hey, play those two sets of chords together.

You just have it in for Bono. I sue my stylist all the time.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Right, have finally watched the documentary (had it “on tape” for days).

I thought it was quite good. U2 obviously try and invent their own mythology, but then again a Mr Ian McCulloch is hardly shy when it comes to that. I thought parts of it were quite honest. It seems The Joshua Tree and Rattle & Hum are now the subject of quite a lot of embarrassment for U2, especially the latter. It was also interesting to notice that there was no joy on that tour.

It’s feasible that when they came back together after that tour the future of the band was on a knife edge, certainly they were creatively bankrupt and suffering writers block. I have admiration for them for trying something new and absorbing new influences. The Grey Album had a similar difficult gestation yet the only thing radical about it was a abit of plinky plonky piano and abit of organ.

Love it or hate it U2 went further out of their comfort zone with Zooropa whilst the Bunnymen went middle of the road with Evergreen and WAYGTDWYL. From then on it’s neck and neck in terms of blandness, U2’s last album is as bad as The Fountrain.

But I have to give them credit for at least trying on a set of new clothes, Pop might be crap but you can never imagine the Bunnymen even trying.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

It will be interesting to see what U2 do when they eventually release the remastered version of "Pop" as the band hate the album as often claimed they rushed releasing it to coincide with the already booked tour....... Bono has often said the band want to rerecord the album and release it the way the envisaged it........
