Liverpool 30th

Postby Back To Back » Sat Oct 01, 2011 3:15 am

Rust - Pride - Stormy Weather - Stars are Stars - Bedbugs - Fountain - Never Stop
In The Margins - Dancing Horses - Rescue

Ocean Rain

The Cutter - Nothing Ever Lasts Forever - Lips ( might have missed a couple here )

The first set was good but strangely subdued, I think because everyone was sitting down and stewards pounced on any signs of people moving about. Warmed up a bit when we got to In The Margins and then Rescue was fantastic. I personally don't know why they bother with The Fountain, it's a disaster of a song.

Ocean Rain was excellent and Mac was encouraging people to stand up and giving the stewards a bit of stick for being jobsworths.

All in all a great gig for me but I was badly disappointed with the meet and greet. I don't want to sound disrespectful to Will because he is obviously a top man, easy to talk to and interested enough to listen. For the cost of the meet and greet I was badly dissapointed that Mac couldn't make the effort to say hello so I have now realised that he is just a precious twat.

Looking foward to Liverpool in December when we can all stand up, dance, jump about and enjoy.

Given his recent exploits you should be grateful, he may have tried to knee-cap you in the head.

Quality night. I was a bit wary in advance having forked out near £200 for two tickets having read about the Glasgow gig but they were on top form. Met Will, which was great and all credit to him for doing this stuff on his own, especially about half an hour before going onstage, top bloke as always.

Setlist probably as expected having read the previous ones. Highlights were probably Rescue, Never Stop, Ocean Rain and The Cutter (place was bouncing at the end). Don't believe the doom merchants. The band were tight, the string section impressive and Mac was in excellent voice, can't be easy playing a near to 2 hour show for that many nights in succession, he's still got it!

Great show, and by the way in my next life I'm coming back as a cello .

Interesting that there's six pages on here about the 'Glasgow-Carnage' but only one on a cracking Liverpool show two days later.

It was class Kounelaki. Listened to the 2008 Ocean Rain cd this morning and, for me, Friday's performance was different quality including Mac's voice.

Seems a bit more dynamic band-wise than the 2008 performances. Still wouldn't have gone though.

Jean Painlevé's L'hippocampe on in the background. If I recall, British Sea Power used that very same film as a backdrop a few years back.
