really enjoyed the gig and the atmosphere was excellent ( only arrvied at the gig at stars are stars as I thought they would be late on stage )

killing moon was wonderful as was ocean rain

great to hear in the margins and suprisingly the fountain actully sounded bloody good with the bass belting out and the strings in the background -- that was also nice on NLF .

mac was in great form and for once I undertood what he was saying --

for me the night belonged to the crowd and the venue -- excellent place to see the buns -extra great was the cutter with mac stepping back from the mike and letting the crowd sing it..

Manchester was same as Dublin except for The Cutter.

Maybe that was left out 'cos Ocean Rain was stopped a couple of minutes in and then re started because of Mac insisting that two people at the front were thrown out, I assume they were giving him shit.

Oh, and it was very very very good!
[Mac even said it was the best OR gig along with NYC]

Either that or I'm easily pleased.

Tonight (Glasgow) ended in a shambles when Ian McCulloch walked off stage during Ocean Rain, he eventually came back on and they played Killing Moon again!! He then walked off during that as well so that was that, no encore, nothing. He seemed to be getting upset at people telling him to sing when he was prattling on and on about nothing very much, he was constantly calling people dickheads (which was correct in some cases). When he came back on he apologised but became very emotional and could barely speak or sing. I don't know if he was drunk, it's hard to tell with him sometimes, and he seemed to be very annoyed at some birthday cake. A strange, strange evening that was fantastic in parts and chaotic and shambolic in others.

Just back from Glasgow, bit earlier than expected!

Sitting/standing about 6 rows back and enjoyed first half. Excellent Never Stop, Stars are Stars and Pride. During Ocean Rain section, Mac got more and more involved with shouting matches with the crowd. Although a few arseholes there, not much more than I've seen/heard before, and after a few bars of Ocean Rain he stopped the song, tried again, then walked off. Came back on, tried to play it again, stopped and then moved on to play Killing Moon AGAIN. At the end, moved over behind Will, muttered something about not knowing or tuning in to him, threw the mike down and that was it.
Dont know what was wrong but constantly mentioned something about birthday cake and the lighting crew, but looked pissed/stoned/pissed off.

Anyone know what was going on?

"They wouldn't know how to light a birthday cake", perhaps?

This all reminds me of what happened in California last May: a wonderful show in San Francisco, fully engaged with the audience; Ian more somber and begins scolding members of the audience in LA; Ian has little connection with the audience and walked off stage during HUH, dropping the second half of the album and closing with a short encore in Anaheim. Standing on his feet and having an aching back was the excuse. Maybe he's tiring of the whole performance experience, or at least when he does not feel appreciated.

Certainly should not have felt unappreciated. A packed house last night. During many songs audience were singing along, which Mac was actively supporting, during first few lines of Ocean Rain crowd singing along Mac says something along the lines of, who is singing this, me or you, stops singing and then walk off begins.

I've been to see The Fall on numerous occasions and am prepared that anything can happen, but to pay £40 each to mainly see Ocean Rain, and most of it was a shambles, feels like a con. If they do stay together, I doubt they will ever get a good response in Glasgow again.
