Manchester Palace Setlist etc

Postby oceanbrain » Sun Sep 25, 2011 11:30 am

Went last night ,what a great old theatre, sat in circle ,seats very close together,im 6ft 3in,i once drove a Fiat Panda that had more legroom!
Setlist............from hazy memory so might not be in correct order.......
Over the wall
Pride
Stormy
Stars r Stars
Fountain
Bedbugs
Never Stop
Margins
Dancin Horses
Rescue

Ocean Rain Set

NLF
Lips

We all know how many peas make 5 but now apparently 6 musicians make an orchestra! Some might say bit of a con [ ill let you all have a friendly discussion on that!] although "the orchestra" did accompany them on all but the first four songs which was an unexpected bonus especially on In the Margins, even Dancin Horses was the better for it,a song ive never really got on with.
Mac was disturbingly happy [ apart from stopping Ocean Rain a verse in coz some dickheads were chirping at him , "somebody get these cunts out of here!" he even apologized for using the cunt word .The cunts were escorted out & Ocean Rain resumed.Where i was sat the sound was spot on,Will & the band i thought were nice & tight ,Macs voice was just ok.All in all a good gig & refreshing not to have Villiers Terrace,Back of Love & The Cutter in the setlist [although great songs] for a change, cant remember when that last happened.

Disastrous.....

Postby Wabbit » Sun Sep 25, 2011 2:29 pm

Disastrous ..!!!!!!! Worst gig experience ever :(

I set off from Sunny south at 1pm but I did not turn off motorway when I should have
and had to drive miles before I could turn back to where I was picking up my husband..
then got ear bashing about how I should have known the turn off (he had a point) so a bad
start to journey ...... then got stuck in petrol station behind someone doing their weekly shop or so it seemed so a bit more delayed...............we were one hour away from Manchester
when the motorway came to a standstill (due to serious accident) so we just crawled along
and then decided to get off motorway as obviously it was not moving. Anyway eventually
we got to Manchester 4 and a half hours late !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Missed the first set and only just sat down in my seat when they came on to do Ocean Rain set... so not in the best of moods to enjoy it....

Anyway, they sounded great and the crowd were well up for it. Hearing the OR songs lifted my mood of course....

They had a back drop with some really great visuals ....a bit like the ones Tool make, animated weirdness(not cartoon) , plus some really early black and white movie strange stuff. I loved the visuals...

They came back on to do NLF and Lips ....

Mac made some comment about the VIP ticket thing..... i don't think he was too impressed with that idea..but I'm not sure exactly what he said.....

Journey home was bad too....

Hope I get to see first set in London tomorrow....

thought the crowd was generally poor personally speaking, I thought people around us in the circle were gonna pull prawn sarnies out at one point, anyway only watched the 1 set due to a mate being told he had to leave because he was paraletic by a jobsworth security woman  .......next time somewhere with standing areas, sounded great though the band, shame I missed the rest

Does anyone know why the guys at the front got thrown out? He seemed to have the massive hump with whatever they were doing, no way was he going to carry on till they had left

Hey, I can still bloody hear you know.

They were shagging!!! Obviously very nimble given limited leg room
Apparently the bloke was escorted out with his keks round his ankles

Is that what mac referred to when he said something about kids being about on thar you tube vid?
