haha! funnily enough, about 10 years ago i was in bedford and the other andy eastwood was playing at the corn exchange - i took some flyers from the box office and mailed them anonymously to eastie - he sussed it was me because i lived in bedfordshire at the time!

sg.

p.s. he's nothing to do with ray cokes and the sex gods either [although there is one word in this sentence that was deffo part of the sex gods armoury at the time!].[/list]

They certainly weren't a pepsi band were they.

so kf... the accusation from the sergeant/pattinson camp on record was that this crew were a 'bunch of so-called mates who spent all pete's money and when it ran out left him over there'. Presumably you have some handle on the case for the defence?

this is something personal to the people involved and best left that way - but i will point out that pete df clearly wasn't stupid and it was his choice.. also the majority of the band, if not all of them remained friends with pete [eastie and jake especially] [and will was definitely friends with eastie last time i saw them together [at the glide gig at the magnet in l'pool] a few years back.

Bernie Connor of course being one of the stars of the Bunnymen's 'Play at Home'.

I caught the Sex Gods supporting the Ramones in Cardiff in late '87.

that's bernie, we've been good friends since the mid-80's and i have spent some legendary weekends in his company.

he has a great weekly podcast that has now been running for over 2 years - has the most wide-reaching music policy - he's off to ibiza at the weekend to dj at 'sundays at space' - should be interesting for the punters who usually dance to fatboy and daft punk!

check out his podcast... http://bernieworld.podomatic.com

well course it is, thats part of what makes it interesting - though you're obviously more loyal than they appeared to have been. and everyone inc the band, drummond, cope etc seems to have played the 'he's a big boy and it was his choice' card. Which was obviosuly true. ANd howe do you stop/help someone whose off his tits. Dunno.

However, you haven't said what this blokes up to now. In a band? Shopping trolley jockey? Writing the definitive liverpool scene book?

don't know if there's a definitive Liverpool's scene book, but i'd love to read that one about them called "the Godlogs". Anybody knows if this was really written?

eastie hasn't sang or performed since the late 80's as far as i recall.

he opened a juice bar in lark lane, sefton park area of liverpool a few years back but had trouble getting out of bed early enough to get to the fruit wholesalers in time and he closed it soon after.

he studied to get a qualification in sea navigation which allowed him to pilot sailing ships and for a while was sailing about in europe.

he's been involved in various art installation projects including one recently that included caravans - eastie was paid with a caravan from the display when it ended as they had no money to pay him and he's recently been touring around a few festivals in it.

i don't think you'll ever see him with a 'normal job' deffo not shopping trolleys jockeying and he often threatens to write about the scene back then but we still wait [he's a great writer, by the way].

p.s. he was involved in the filming of the lipa gig - you'll see his surname miss-spelt on the sleeve.

also isn't paul simpson threatening to publish his memoirs? That should be interesting. Also a good writer. his blog when it was available was always interesting and his spoken word stuff is good.
