I wasn't much into the Healers. I do like his work with Modest Mouse, but that may be partly because they're local boys, and I think it's cool that kids from my town have been able to make music with one of my teenage guitar idols.

all the usual bollocks

As amused as I had been by this lack-of-interview, it was by some Spanish publication, not Mojo. Eh?

Bunnymen blow The Smiths out of the water, IMO.

I think EATB were just a little more creative and a little more daring with their music. The Smiths were too pop/dance/mainstream.

I think the Smiths are definitely one of the greatest bands I've ever heard. Last album did suck, though. Their music is pretty much timeless, partly because while some bands may have tried to rip them off I still haven't heard any music that really sounds like them to this day.

And I hate to say it but Morrissey is definitely a better lyricist than Mac. Just listen to the lyrics from pretty much any Bunnymen song post-reunion. Some of it is just cringe-worthy. I think at this point that if he just started pulling random words out of a dictionary it'd be an improvement. It'd at least be more interesting.

The bands were so different. I will say that I thought The Smiths were very very very cool. Hatful of Hollow, Strangeways, and Queen is Dead--all great.
