Fascinating finds

Postby Malbert » Mon Jun 06, 2011 8:41 am

I recently purchased a decent stack of 10 of those old Bunnymen fanzines. Last night I actually had some time to thumb through them and came across some personal items placed in the magazines. One was a 4 x 6 b/w picture from the Ocean Rain era that turned out to be an unused sticker. I had never seen one before, so I thought that was cool. Then another magazine had an actual photograph of Les onstage playing his bass, and on the back of the photo was handwritten "(copyright symbol), 1987 Jim Kutler". There was also a small article about the Bunnymen in one of the mags. But the best find was this small b/w photo of Les on a bicyle (I've seen that picture before, plus that picture was on the cover of one of the magazines) and on the back of that was handwritten "Les about to show me his wheely in Santa Barbara." What do you think? I thought about contacting the person I purchased these from and asking some questions, but haven't decided what I want to ask.

A little Google search will reveal Jim Kutler's name associated with music photography, and his inclusion in the photography credits of the Ocean Rain re-release. I'd say he's the guy you wanna find.

I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for. I'm very excited about having found this stuff, but at the same time I feel like their items I shouldn't keep.

You could always scan the images and then give the originals back, if that soothes your conscience.
