Good show. Last three songs of HUH the best. Good idea to put HUH as second set with the better encore songs. McCulloch's voice really good I thought. As usual I was able to get up close sans resistance.

Sergeant's guitar on Zimbo is stellar. Makes you wonder whose band it really is (as it was in the beginning) HUH =Will Sergeant. Over the Wall great as well. With a Hip..A Promise was great, HUH was great. Show of Strength I thought was great. The Disease I really enjoyed. It was a Plesure was great.

The drinks were really stiff..better than the Fillmore!

I had a great time. Unfortunately, I had an extra ticket because my friend, who is a 3rd grade teacher, couldn't get a sub in to cover for her today (Friday), so she passed.

I broke with my own tradition and wore a dress to a show, which turned out to be a good move. The car in front of me on the Bay Bridge paid the $6 toll for me. Since I had an extra ticket and didn't want to bother selling it I handed it to one of the doormen who said he would give it away for me. About 10 minutes later, he came up and said some guy who worked on the TV show "Mythbusters" took my extra ticket.

I got to the venue before my other friends showed up and ended up talking to a nice guy named Michael, who used to work at Amoeba Records. He said he met Will once, when Will strolled incognito into the record store, thinking no one would recognize him. (Hey Michael, if you're reading this, PM me! I was the lady in the red dress!)

Anyway, Kelley came on first, I enjoyed his set! I would like to hear his covers of Crocs and HUH and fully intended on buying the CDs. Oops.

Then the Bunnymen came on. It was amazing. Will's guitar sounded ridiculously good. Wow! Mac was a little drunk but his voice was pretty good, and he remembered almost all the lyrics. He actively encouraged the crowd to "smoke whatever they were going to smoke" several times during the course of the show, almost like he wanted a contact high.

"Crocs" was great! They did the songs in the order of the UK release and at the end played "Do It Clean" and "Bring on the Dancing Horses". The low point of the evening was when Mac introduced the next song they were doing as one of the top 5 Bunny songs and then they did "Nothing Lasts Forever". The crowd was confused, and I was kind of embarrassed. Very, very painful.

There was a 15 minute break before they came back to do HUH. I don't think there was a song from either Crocs or HUH I didn't enjoy. Will can make sounds come out of his guitar that I didn't even know were possible.

The first encore included "Killing Moon," which Mac basically let the crowd sing for him. Unfortunately, it didn't go too well in the second verse. heh. I should also point out that the first time around he sang the chorus the first time and then stopped the song to talk about how awesome the lyrics were. One guy yelled out, "Just fucking play!" a few times. Oh wait--that was me. They restarted the song from the beginning.

The last song they did was "Lips," but before he did the song, Mac was saying that people have filthy minds when it came to that song but seemed rather happy about it.

I will point out that I missed dinner due to getting stuck in traffic, and I subsisted on one beer the entire evening so maybe my feelings of happiness were just hunger and low blood sugar.

I had a great time, and my only regret is that I didn't meet Will, but there didn't seem to be a chance for that. Some other time, I suppose......

Glad you enjoyed the show...... but I think that NLF could be one of the top 5 Bunnymen songs easy?

Every single song from Crocs, HUH, Porcupine, and OR is better than that song, imo. :D

Well it is a matter of opinion.... but I was just confused as to why you were so embarrassed. A lot of people love that song.....but they do have a lot of good songs!!

Saw Will in the bar a couple of blocks up from the Phoenix before the show. Good to see Mac has learned some more of the lyrics to Turquoise Days since the Glasgow show. Though the weather wasn't brilliant it was nice not to need mountaineering equipment to get there.

So, maybe I should clarify that it was really the buildup, when everyone thought they were going to bust out with something else, and then they played that song. Everyone looked very confused, and it just didn't go over well at all.
