"Ian McCulloch’s shambolic performances of The Prettiest Star and The Jean Genie proved disappointingly underwhelming"

Gee, I thought the Jean Genie clip was one of his better efforts.

Here's a photo of him and the girl from the thing. He looks thrilled, and even older than Methuselah.

Not a great review for Mac but an accurate perception from the journalist.

All recent shots of Mac are reminding me of my vain desperate attempts to hold on to my thinning balding hair . . . sad look.

It is either teased up in some ridiculous manner or he wears a hoody.
The lack of lights on stage are increasingly becoming a hazard for all other people sharing it with him -a flash of light and silhouette captures it perfectly in all it's desperate glory.

Poor bastard - it must be awful having such a young vibrant girlfriend/partner who makes you look and feel ancient.

Another review - sounds like the whole night was disappointing but Mac definitely stands out . . . love the 'got into the spirits' line.

i thought the girl in photo was Sharleen Spiteri - not that i know or care what his girlfriend/partner looks like.
review sounds depressingly familiar!

I think the Bunnymen should make it a contractual stipulation that Dave Smith writes all their reviews. Every single Mac show, no matter how ropey others say it is, is "awesome", "magnificent", "fantastic" according to Smiffy. Mac complains about people going to the toilet, people think that makes him sound like a bit of a tit, but where Smith is sitting 800 people head for the bogs during The Killing Moon alone and Mac is entirely justified. Mac complains the lights are too bright, a number of people complain he sounds like a moaning cunt, not Smith though...he is blinded by the lights bouncing off Mac's slaphead.

If Smith were German he'd be denying Holocaust I bet..."concentration camps? You must be mistaken, they were holiday camps".
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Thought somebody would mention... The Wild Swans on the same bill as the Bunnymen. Chester Rocks in July. Oh, there, I mentioned it.

This is getting better every day. Now if I could only get Wendy james and Tracy Primitive to share a tent with me for the weekend.

I'm sure that can be arranged. They will be pleased with the company and the sex. Besides, I don't see any other takers.

Anyone? Share a tent with Wendy james and Tracy Primitive? Fancy it? Anyone? Share a tent with Wendy james and Tracy Primitive? Fancy it? Anyone? Fancy it?

Anyone?

Share a tent...

with Wendy James and Tracy...

It's definitely not as good as his 'Changes' cover, is it? That being said, I thought his session version of 'Prettiest Star' was at least compelling.

OMFG. I'm tired of seeing the Siberia photos accompanying most interviews, but maybe it's a blessing.

FWIW, that isn't "the partner."
