And chip butty. Seen him eat one of those - actually ate one with him. Not the same one mind you, I had gravy on mine. French fries on white bread just sounded a little starchy to me. Oh, and at his local, there was a group of five guys ("blokes" or "chaps", I think you call them). They ordered what looked like three pounds (not the money, the unit of weight measure) of chips (or "fries" as we call them) with a whole loaf of white bread (probably wasn't Wonder - I don't think they have Wonder Bread there). I suppose a chip butty or two has to be good at soaking up the alcohol consumed. (not that I'm calling these "blokes" or "chaps" a bunch of degenerate ale-swilling chip-eating drunks, because I'm not).

So what did you think of the Northern English delicacy that is the chip butty? Fish and chips... but chip butties? Bacon butties - now that's a different story. Eat with loads of Daddies brown sauce. Egg butties, argh.
