My first job out of high school?

Canvassing a rich neighborhood during the Reagan era, trying to get the Democratic Mondale-Ferraro ticket elected. I quit after one day.

Geraldine Ferraro 1935-2011. RIP

Ferraro died on March 26, 2011, after a 12-year battle with multiple myeloma, also known as plasma cell myeloma or Kahler's disease, is a cancer of plasma cells, a type of white blood cell normally responsible for the production of antibodies. Collections of abnormal cells accumulate in bones, where they cause bone lesions, and in the bone marrow where they interfere with the production of normal blood cells. Most cases of myeloma also feature the production of a paraprotein, an abnormal antibody that can cause kidney problems and interferes with the production of normal antibodies leading to immunodeficiency.

The disease develops in 1–4 per 100,000 people per year. It is more common in men, and is twice as common in blacks as it is in whites. With conventional treatment, the prognosis is 3–4 years, which may be extended to 5–7 years or longer with advanced treatments. Multiple myeloma is the second most common hematological malignancy (13%) and constitutes 1% of all cancers.

If this is indicative of the effort in general on the part of her supporters, it makes sense she lost.

Quitter. Nice job.

So the fact of the matter is that Ivan is to blame for Ronnie's second term in office, due to his cack-handed attitude to his work.

Hey, if they'd had me canvass a neighborhood where I didn't doors slammed in my face, dogs sicked on me or where I hadn't had profanities and/or rocks & bottles hurled at me (all happened during my 9 hours of door-to-door in the rich pro-Reagan neighborhood), I may have lasted a bit longer

At least you weren't living in Tripoli, Ronnie and Maggie might have dropped a scud missile on your tent.

You work for Amway?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Yeah, I didn't know what her particular malady was, so I cut and pasted from Wikipedia, thinking others may be in the same boat...

There are a number of American speakers on here, 'over-explanation' is not possible and similarly 'over-simplification'.

Well, yes Americans would congregate on a website made by an American.
