You can't beat a turntable and a nice 180gram shiny 12incher.

Also the quality of your stylus is of importance.
Basically itunes and MP3 players play at MP3 128kbps.
From a table and using a 64MB card
MP3,16 bit/128kbps recording time =65min
MP3.16 bit/320kbps recording time =26min
WAV,16 bit/44.1kHz recording time =5 min this is what CDs are recorded in.
So to me 13 times less information and 13 times decrease in sound quality.
If listening to reduced sound quality and bad speakers it just may equal out but if listening through good speakers the bits that are missing become more evident-ie sound more crap.
The problem with self improvement is knowing when to quit.

True, I had a supposedly good turntable in the late 80s through to the early 1990s. It was shit. The vocalist on any record always sounded like they had a lisp when singing any words beginning with s.

128k? that's soooooo 2005.

Most music sold on iTunes and other music sites, as well as default encoding for ripping cds is now 256k.
