The Damned

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

EATB and the Damned were and still they are my great loves...
the funny/interesting thing is that both of them
are making songs, which they don't spoil at all their history...

I wasn't too hip to Grave Disorder but the Damned live blow just about any current band away.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

here here! I hope to see them again someday, I saw them last in 1998 and was truly amazed at how good they were. Now if they could only kiss and make up with Rat Scabies I'd be a happy camper!

I'll look out for that one.

As much as I don't like to believe it. I don't think there's any making up with Rat. If Vanian and Sensible are to be believed the guy has been denying them royalties from the early albums having purchased the rights to them and few other sketchy deals. I wanted to know Rat's side of the story but it pretty much consisted of "Someone The Captain's age should know where his money is coming from"

I'll go with Vanian and Sensible on this one.

Do you have the Phantom Chord albums?

I have "Dave Vanian and the Phantom Chords" (Released 1995) which I bought it fm The Damned's last gig in Athens on 2nd of May 2008.
...as far as I know a lot of the Damned's MB members (including me) are in touch with Rat...Pinch-their new drummer- is ok , he's not Rat of course, but he's good enough...Stu West on bass is fine too and their today's sound has a lot of mr. Monty Oxymoron -their keyboardist. He (Monty) has changed their sound .
it's now closer to Psychedelic sound more than before.

Hmmm psychedelic generally doesn't appeal to me but I'll check it out. I always hoped the Damned would go the Phantom Chords route as I thought the two albums were awesome. Especially the 1995 album.

So has Rat ever addressed his falling out with the message board members? I sought out interviews and only found that one quote.

oh I see, well, I don't like much their early punk years, when Brian Jones was on guitar (he has done some gigs with Rat, I think ) and Captain on bass (Damned,Damned,Damned and Music for pleasure). I like very much, Black Album, MGE and especially "Strawberries"....Phantasmagoria was a very good album indeed, much better than "Anything".

Captain's solo "The Universe of Geoffrey Brown" is for me, one of the best 10 albums I have ever heard...

"So who's Paranoid" was not their best album, but it's one of their very good albums..."Little miss disaster", "Perfect Sunday" are top songs "A Nation fit for heroes" and "Under the Wheels" are lovely and "Since I met you" is -I think- their first slow song, with an excellent solo by Captain...and of course the 14minutes psychedelic "Dark Asteroid" sang by "?" ( we -on MB-don't know yet, who's singing this ).

Now about Rat, I have heard/seen a lot conversations on MB if he'll come back or not...but I'm not so much "in" in that kind of things, you know...
