Cheating Drunks & Tourists since 1929

Tired of discussing the Bunnymen and all the bands that have been influenced by them? This is the place for you.

Cheating Drunks & Tourists since 1929

Postby Ivan » Wed Feb 16, 2011 11:18 pm

Greetings from Seattle (a place which some hate, but I don't care) and from me (a person who some of you hate...and again, I don't care). I haven't been haunting here lately. I've been busy writing.

The 5 Point Cafe -
http://www.examiner.com/bars-in-seattle ... 929-review I provided no links to this site, because this review has nothing to do with this site.

It's been an interesting week. I started the week not knowing what examiner.com even was and after taking 15 minutes to concoct a writing sample and bio, I am now the Seattle Bars Examiner. At The 5 Point, I got to meet Dave the owner, Roach the bouncer, Celeste the bartender, Michelle the office manager, and lots of cool people.

It seemed fitting to start with The 5 Point since that's where my love of chicken fried steak first started. Here's my other shit so you can all tear it apart and say how much you hate me and how journalism has gone to the dogs blah blah even though some of you liked my BRMC thread last year.

Here's my Nitzer Ebb album review: Das ist gut produkt
Wait - I've never listened to Nitzer Ebb on purpose. There is no review.

Nice job.

I especially like this sentence: "An elk head lords majestically over the seating area - its horns draped in hundreds of bras in all sizes and colors."

You have a way with the bits and pieces of language we call "words".

Thank you. I did consider writing a review about a restaurant and bar that was popular in the 80s. Now, I wasn't going to write a review about the restaurant/bar when it was popular... I was going to write about how the place was after things started to change.

You see, the chef quit near the end of the decade - somebody talked him into opening a place with his name on it (the bar's name was kind of silly).

They hired a new chef, but it was never the same. The place closed up shop a couple years later. This mediocre era was what I wanted to write about.

Didn't really see any sense in reviewing a restaurant many people had never heard of, which nobody could really go to because it's been closed for almost 20 years

very good ivy. witty even. Hows that 'ditching the whole persona' thing working out for you? Though on the evedence it would be sad to see it go completely.

I actually do like your hat but I couldn't find the page online where the dog finally likes the hat in Go Dog Go.

There are pieces of Frank in lots of people.
