I have an extremely difficult time imagining that anyone in the band proper would do such a thing; I'm not willing to blame them personally. If they continue to allow these douchebags to wreck their reputation, however, we have a problem.

The band have to take some responsibility here.
Who ever wrote it thinks they are in the band 'our songs'.
Maybe a quick press release regarding this new music industry low to every publication possible relevant to The Bunnymen and their fan base.
I wonder if it will be a big deal then.

I agree--but it's been all of a day since this all happened. I'm willing to give them a little time to craft an appropriate response to this fiasco.

Had it not been for the overwhelmingly negative response I think they would have continued with the trashing of fans covers, they even defended the "joke" or idea a couple of times before bailing on it. If it was a joke, I don't get it but most people that know me would say i have a very good sense of humor.

How long does it take to write and publish the following?
'Sorry, once again bad management has made Echo and The Bunnymen look like idiots. As we are incapable of hiring competent people situations like this may occur again. Apologies in advance and please come to our shows as we have a new tour to promote'.
