PM's that are sitting in the Outbox & Sentbox folders...

Regarding PMs that are in these folders Sentbox & Outbox, how long will they stay in there before people answer them?

How can one know if they are on ignore status or blocked too, from sending or receiving PMs? Is there some sort of alert or message to be received?

PM's are really not like e-mail. The PM will display in your Outbox until the recipient reads them.

Being on Ignore should not affect PM's from my understanding. The max number of posts in your Sent, Outbox or Saved box is set at 15

i think it stays in your outbox till someone reads it, then it moves to your sent box... but stays there until you delete it or it's too old. at least thats my understanding... i could be wrong here

I got a weird e-mail in my personal e-mail inbox indicating that I have 4 PMs.

So, I clicked on the links & it brought me nothing.

Did the person/people who sent them delete them before I checked them then?

yes, that is exactly what would happen if someone deleted their messages before you could read them.

One last note on PM's....are they documented in stone even after one deletes them from their own inbox?

I am pretty sure it gets completely removed from the database once it is not in any of your folders. The sender would have a copy too remember.
