Thanks for the info, Morty.

I'm really counting the days down now. I thought alot though, about the plane rides last night. In a laughable but, pensive way, it "hit" me that my roommate had it arranged that we have a 6 hour layover in Auckland, NZ even before arriving in Sydney. So, it's taking us 2 days each way to get there!! Ugh. My stomach felt a bit fluttered by it all but, I am proving to myself I can do it. Hey too, if my plane gets hi-jacked or bursts into flames then, people won't have to "worry" about me posting on this forum, with my inane posts clogging up space anymore. So, that's always an option (or 2). Or maybe I'll meet a sexy Aussie who'll take me away from singlehood & the drudgery of a working life. ha.

Seriously though, if anyone here has a little suggestion for these layovers 6 hours for in Auckland, feel free to let me know. Meaning, stay in the airport, venture to the city center or another local suggestion. Thank you.

We got stops in: Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra & Bondi Beach.

The show on the Fuel Network has a TV show called, "Bondi Rescue" all about Bondi Beach lifeguards & their daily activities. It's quite funny & yet, inspirational because I am going there (even though I'm not a beach person & look shitty in a bathing suit it'll be sooo worth-it). http://www.fuel.tv/bondirescue/ I watch it every night @ 11pm here.

With your stop over in Auckland - 6 hours in Auckland airport can be depressing.
Extremely strict customs and in changeover mode you wont be able to do much.

I have only ever been to Auckland briefly in changeover mode so can speak from experience but looking forward to seeing more.

Maybe check out options on your ticket and see if you can actually stay in Auckland for at least 24 hours and get same flight to Sydney but another day.
If you're going in that direction Qantas are normally flexible with these tickets or small fee change may apply.
You get much better value for NZ dollar from US dollar than AUD.

Auckland is apparently quite cosmopolitan these days and not that far from airport - if you find some cheap accom, could really be worth it for you.
Might as well if you're going to be there and it breaks up the long travel time and you can start to adjust to time difference.

Well worth investigating options on your ticket.

Am off to NZ in a few days myself so if any other bright ideas appear will let you know.

the bathing suit doesn't have to be such a problem anyways you are aloud to go topless at the southern end of Bondi Beach.May,the water is a little cooler 13-16C at this time of yearThe show you're talking about the clubbies the Surf life savers (the volunteer life savers these are dressed in red) don't think a lot of them. The other as seen on tv (in Blue) are paid/professional .
NZ stop over 6 hrs is longer than the flight from NZ to Aus I think it's about 4hrs and as a stopover/international flight you most probably wont be able to leave the airport but I could be wrong.
The problem with self improvement is knowing when to quit.
