F$#ing A! AMAZING! After the let down that was There Will Be Blood I really was expecting this would be a drag. I knew nothing about the film except a friend liked it who said it was the best book adaption she had seen in a while and Knightley was in it. Two excellent reasons as far as I was concerned. Had no clue it was up for so many awards.

Despite finding British World War I one step behind stories of Cromwell in my list of top most boring moments in history, the movie was captivating. The story moved along and the characters and innuendos were subtle.

The scenes of the Dunkirk evacuation along are reason enough to see the film. The summer scenes in 1935 England are even more reason to shake off winter for an hour.

This has to be one of the best years for films since 93-94. Michael Clayton, 3:10 To Yuma, Atone and though I though it sucked enough people are loving Blood. Oh, and the new Rambo movie is out!

Oh come on Cromwell was very interesting. They dug him up and cut his head off!

Well, my 1600 British history course in college and the PBS special on King Charles last night really sucked.

I have read some good historical fiction set in 17th century England. I find the politics & history of that era endlessly fascinating. The plagues, the fires, the Puritans, the crypto-catholics, innumerable wars with Holland (for some reason), the ascendancy of France, etc. etc.

Then I am going to say PBS and my professor's presentation of the 17 Century bites. If Moz is gonna sing about Cromwell and you say so I will look into it when this semester is over.

It was a drag. James McAvoy was good though.

Ha! That is exactly how I feel about There Will Be Blood. It was a drag, but Daniel Day-Lewis was great.

Oh, and you are wrong. The use of flashback, the pacing of scenes in the beginning, an excellent soundtrack and the movement among characters throughout the story kept the story moving.

She's busy deleting her posts over at Morrissey-solo.
