It's a comedy, which he has already done once. Bit of a naff line-up really. Loads of bit part British "comedians" and washed up soap actors off the 80s/90s Liverpudian TV soap Brookside. Neil Fitzmaurice is merely an extra in The Peep Show; he doesn't do much at all in it. Looks a bit crap to me from this trailer and my firewall warns me that if I look at the official website, it might harm my computer. Terrific.

So this film is finally seeing the light of day? Peasy wrote about this back in Nov 2007.

I believe Ian had to imbibe to take the edge off and get over his nerves. I'm sure his acting ability increased ten-fold when he did that recent not funny comedy bit...

The cast. John Henshaw was good in the BBC comedy Early Doors (set in a pub). John Thomson used to be funny, particularly as Louis Balfour in The Fast Show (he was the guy doing the Cheeky Monkey sketch I put up on a different thread). Suzanne Collins - I didn't even know she "acts" anymore as an ex-soap actress (Brookside and The Bill). Ironically, Mac is definitely one of the more known people in this.

In The Margins, seems the film struggled to get funding that's why it was mentioned in 2007 and was done on a shoe string budget. It's taken all that time to get it out to the cinemas. They even wheeled out Steven Gerrard at a screening at Cannes in 2009.

Yes, that does seem to be the case. It was probably filmed in 2007 and put together some time during 2008 or later. It's good they finally got the funding. Maybe they can make some money off of it, finally. I hope all you British folk go see it. Even if it's just to see Ian in a cowboy hat!

Billy Corkhill? What has he done since Brookside, an extra in the daytime soap Doctors. High quality theatre there also from Nikki out of Brookside, a bit like panto but with underwear and no Widow Twankey in sight. Well that's decided then with that all-star cast. I won't be going even if Mac makes a guest appearance wearing a cowboy hat. If it ends up on TV, which it probably will on some obscure freeview channel, maybe I'll force myself to watch it.

Brookside was one of the finest documentary series' of the 1980s. It always amazed me how all the residents just seemed to get on with their everyday lives as if the cameras weren't even there. Does anyone know if Billy and the rest of the gang still live in the Close?

john mcardle? he's all over the place, mainly telly/soapy stuff, but you know, better than big brother and all star family fortunes. Not graduated to corrie yet so he'll be jealous of sinbad. was watching a bit of hollyoaks the other night and clocked the bird who used to be his daughter in brookie I think, just the grating scouse accent gave it away:

Aah, it was a fine programme in the 80s. Phil Redmond straight from Grange Hill. Damon and the lovely Debbie, she, queen, me arse, Morrissey's cameo, Harry Cross. The siege. Then it was all downhill from there. Bobby and She, Queen, princess moved on to a council house flat in Manchester, while Bobby had a short spell doing his part-time passion of football, managing a football team. The only highlight for me after that was the wonderful Beth Jordache even though she liked girls - I wonder what happened to her - and Bob/Kate out of Blackadder. Unfortunately all the residents moved out and the place became a bit derelict and was sold. I think that is how it remained, derelict. Looking on google street maps, part of the close looks lived in, not the bit on the telly though. Perhaps there is some Truman Story type Brookside soap on TV still that neither the residents or us know anything about.

Bit parts then. He is forever cursed to be Billy Corkhill out of Brookside.

well if you're referring to '1st man in Pub' (Revengers Tragedy, 2002) then I'll give you that but he's played a chief superintendant in a couple of other things. Sounds very important to me. I never saw brookie much after the 80s, and probably went off it after the damon and debbie (sigh) spin off. Harry Cross was probably the pinaccle of soap characters. Favourite quote "buy cheap, buy twice".

Sad wasn't it, but at least we are safe in the knowledge that Debbie grew into a beautiful woman actress.

My favourite scene ever (http://bit.ly/ibFt4Q), but why is a "Lesbian" kiss (and just a kiss at that) lasting 18 seconds need to be classed as "inappropriate for some users". It is appropriate for me, so much so I want to see what happened when they were in bed together after the passionate kiss. Beth particularly...
