I know everyone has seen this one

With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

The good old Air Force. They can be counted on a whopper of a tale to explain away UFO sightings to the point of denigrating their own pilots who are trained to be accurate observers and quick thinkers.

As much as I don't want to believe in the Roswell incident I find it hard to believe trained military men mistook a weather balloon for an alien saucer. Even a project Mogul weather which was secret at the time.

Ah Roswell!

The Roswell incident has been so ingrained into popular culture, few people really know some important facts about it especially with the physical evidence recovered and handled by people.

The story, except for a few days in July 1947 was largely ignored for 30 years until a "ufologist" and a short time later, the National Enquirer resurfaced the story by interviewing one of the Majors involved in collecting the debris.

It after this that more "witnesses" came forward with details that were not in the original 1947 reports. Remember these "details" came 30 years after the fact. Despite there being only a few witnesses to the materials and "crash site" according to 1947 reports, suddenly 30 years later there were 100's of witnesses popping up.

The metallic debris that was found was remarkably similar to mylar which we now use in balloons at kids birthday parties. At that time no civilian was aware of such a material but it was being used in high altitude balloons. Remember there was no satellite surveillance then. This is what they used and they were enormous. Some described it as tinfoil that would unfold itself if you crumpled it up. Then there were those balsa wood i-beams about the size of kite supports. i don't think anyone disputes this but over the years all kinds of other properties have been made about the tinfoil like metal.

So, we are supposed to believe 30 year old accounts that had never been heard before, about a ship that supposedly traveled millions of miles in what DOES seem to be weather balloon material only to crash in a remote location on Earth.

The fact is that Roswell is now an industry full of tourist attractions, TV, movie and pop culture tie-ins. We will never know the real truth but based on just the "tinfoil" stuff itself there is reason to doubt this was an alien spacecraft. Just because the Air Force couldn't get it's story straight doesn't make it a an alien ship. maybe they just used that as a cover.

Or maybe we were able to reverse engineer this alien "tinfoil" just so we can have shiny balloons at parties!

Actually I was referring to Major Jesse Marcels and definitely not the long list of kooks who have popped up since 1947.

Heeeeeyyyyy, how about that Alien Autopsy video though? Good shit! Remember the documentary with Jonathan Frakes?

The Major I referred to was Jesse Marcels who it seems exaggerated about his past a bit in all his post 1979 interviews when the story surfaced again.

I saw those discrepancies when he discussed his past (education, war experience, etc) but I just can't get over the fact he puts out a press release of a captured UFO only to have it recalled later as a weather balloon. I mean could he really have been that mistaken?

And have you seen the enhancement of the telegram that General Ramey was holding in the famous debris photo with Marcel?

I think I'm more trying to convince myself more than anyone else.

Enhanced photo? I thought it was another picture of Bigfoot.

Why do crackpot websites always look like that anyway? Just a cluttered mess with all kinds of blinking gifs and noises. Maybe because these people crave attention and are unorganized and cluttered themselves? I thought I was on MySpace for a second.

weather balloon/UFO floating WalMart/10 + fighter jets

The public is always a seriously mistaken bunch of fools.

I wonder if the Air Force had anything to do with the upcoming Star Trek movie?

Yes, but they were taken down after numerous men got stuck in them and were late for work.

I was thinking the same thing about that website. But what do you think of his interpretation of the telgram? Crap site or not I think it's pretty cool he thought to look at telegram in the Ramey/Marcel/debris picture.
