I hope the weather stays like it is for the next few days so I can get across to Liverpool. Got tickets for Saturday, Shine so Hard on Monday and Mac on the 18th but would be happy if I only managed to get the Olympia in.

What a gig, brilliant! Amazing to hear one of the main 'backdrops' of my younger days played out. The guys done a fantastic job recreating it all, sounded great. Good crowd too considering the weather/transport problems although perhaps a bit tame? (for Glasgow). I went with my mate who came down and met me: it took him 3 and a half hours to drive down from Dundee in the afternoon (normally just over an hour) and over FIVE hours to drive back during the night after the gig!!! He wasn't missing it for anything, a star!

One wee interesting thing we noted was that, with the lighting Mac's silhouette looked like Bart Simpson... ;-)

...and my wee Zoom H2 recorder came in very handy... *cough*

;-D

Yeah, they cancelled both the Matinee and Evening concert as Mac had lost his voice, they rescheduled for the following week..... Coincidently these were the last time I heard The Bunnymen play Stars Are Stars, Pictures on My Wall and Turquoise Days live.......

Just got back home to the boondocks. We all really disappointed you weren't there. Dont want to rub it in, but you missed an excellent night, including the apres show rum at smelltheglove's house.

I just booked tickets after reading the reviews on here. Birmingham is much nearer, but I didn't go because I came to the Bunnymen late, and didn't rate the first two albums so highly as the others.

But Sunday is the last night of the tour, and it's Liverpool, so yea, it'll be great.

By the way, I think you guys are often too harsh on the newer stuff. Until five years ago I only had two or three Bunnymen albums, (Ocean Rain and Porcupine), and when someone buys up all this stuff and listens to it cold without the rosy glasses of nostalgia, I think you might find the later stuff (post Evergreen I mean), stands up quite well. If Sissors In The Sand were on Heaven Up Here and you goth-moshed to it in the eighties I bet you'd be saying it's a stone cold Bunny classic.

Or not.
