Peter Hook to play Unknown Pleasures live in its entirety

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

I'll go to see him in Paris next march.
Bought his live CD last month too. Good stuff.

Hooky was always the member who wanted to play some Joy Division songs the most, even during New Order tours. And he loves touring.
And I saw him with Section 25 live, one or two years ago. They already played some Warsaw and Joy Divsion songs... and it was great (except Section 25 singer). To listen to Joy Division songs live again, with Hooky's bass sound is priceless.

I think Hook has the legacy to do it, and that he likes playing those JD songs more than any of the other New Order members. Why can't he do it ? As long as Ian Curtis memory is respected.
I prefer this to Barney doing New Order 15th club dance remixes compilation or whatever, for example.
To the logical limit

Finally, the tickets for the San Francisco show are on sale; I am still on the fence on whether it's a good idea to go. On the plus side, tickets are $20 apiece. Waffle waffle waffle...

I decided to take the plunge for the L.A. show. Ticketmaster says it starts at 6 p.m., with a venue curfew at 9.30 p.m. WTF?

Are you sure you didn't buy tickets for a Rick Springfield concert?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Actually, I think it might've been for a special appearance and book signing for his new memoirs, "Late, Late at Night."

Waffle away. $20 bucks for a gig like this is worth the waffle, whipped cream, cherry & more.

Adding again WORTH the effort and value $20 my tickets cost me just over $80 and that with the Aussie dollar at parity with the US dollar we was jipped. And if you are thinking you have to stand up for ages they play for just under 80 mins.Have fun

This is Rowetta who sold her sex stories to the NOTW last week about Shaun Ryder. One occasion she turned him down for sex so he booked a call girl and did the business in the hotel room next door!

Hooky.......so much to answer for.

Peter Hook to re-record Joy Division songs
Former Joy Division and New Order bassist to rework three tracks with ex-Happy Mondays singer Rowetta. There could even be an album in the pipeline ...

Just realized that this is more or less FC's NME link.

Chicago Peter Hook show

Postby Warpig » Tue Dec 07, 2010 1:33 am

I just wanted to chime in for anyone on the fence about going to this show. If you care enough to read this post then you're a fan of Unknown Pleasures and JD, and you shouldn't miss this.

Anyone that thinks Hook is somehow putting a black mark on the legacy of Joy Division or cashing in on the death of I.C. should check out this show, too. About 30 seconds into No Love Lost and you'll warm up to the idea.

Hooky's voice on most of the songs was actually pretty good. A couple of songs he gets a gutteral thing going that is slightly offputting - all told though it was way better than I was expecting. The Light - the backing band, was super tight. Man it sounded great. The weakest part was probably the drummer (don't know his name) - it was good, but like Morris at 1/2 speed. Hook's son is the other bassist and he wears his bass low like his pops. Having a son myself I thought them playing together for this event was pretty cool stuff.

Highlights for me were Leaders of Men, New Dawn Fades, Shadowplay, and for whatever reason, Wilderness was just frickin amazing live. I'm pretty sure the setlist was as follows:

No Lost Lost
Leaders of Men
Glass
Digital
Disorder
Day of the Lords
Candidate
Insight
New Dawn Fades
Shes Lost Control
Shadowplay
Wilderness
Interzone
I Remember Nothing

encore
Warsaw
Transmission
Love Will Tear Us Apart

I was on the fence... but the more I've thought about it, I've kind of talked myself out of it. I guess I'm afraid the place is gonna be full of fat old fuckers like me, software engineer/goth types.... and young hipsters coming to laugh at the fat old fuckers like me and software engineer/goth types
