Detested songs

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Detested songs

Postby girlwithnoname » Sun Nov 21, 2010 9:07 pm

When I am getting dressed, I sometimes will put on the cable music channel that will play mostly the music I like (it's called "Classic Alternative"--cheesy title). However, today the Eurythmics/Annie Lennox song "Missionary Man" came on, which I find to be an abomination. I cannot stress how much I loathe this song. It's utter crap.

This got me thinking about other songs I detest, like U2's "Vertigo" (come on, "one, two, three, FOURTEEN"?!!) I know this has been done for Bunnymen songs specifically, but I wonder what YOUR despised songs are?

This is harder than I thought it would be.

But I can safely say I hate any and all songs by Thelonious Monster.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Yes, usually I tend to block songs out if I don't like them. For clarification though, I was really asking about detested songs from bands with whom one can listen. This makes me want to take back my U2 example, a band whose output for the past 22 years has been abysmal.

Aha! Siouxsie and the Banshees from their album "Tinderbox"-- "92 degrees" blows.

Detested breaks in songs - where the song goes off in some lame tangent

Time of The Season by The Zombies - why did they need to put that long meandering organ solo in the end?

Nights In White Satin By The Moody Blues - What is that acid trip down the rabbit hole thing that goes on and on in the middle?

When I was a little kid and these tunes came on the classic rock station I was truly traumatized.

Another song that left me feeling ill Let's Hear It For The Boy by Deniece Williams

I used to work weekend overnights at an Oldies-format station.

Time of the Season - I think they were butting heads with a producer who wanted a radio-friendly track. They were allowed to put in their solo... but at the end, so radio stations could fade it out.

I thank God for Nights in White Satin (along with American Pie by Don McLean).
With most of the songs on my station's playlist being in the two-minute range, It's hard to run down the hall to the restroom and relieve oneself by the next fade. These two songs afforded me the luxury of a number-two.

I always thought that was why some shows have a three in a row spot about halfway through. Obviously they needed an assistant to put them in - in days of old anyway.

Any song performed by 95% of the wankers on X Factor, particularly the inane bollocks that they select for Britain's annual number one.

And like all good threads we get to Frank's bowel movements. Just didn't think it would be this soon. Well done.

I got one!

The Smiths - Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others. What a piece of shit throwaway song on an otherwise classic album.

For being such a great band The Smiths have more than their share of stinkers.

But Johnny Marr's guitar saved it. Marr was The Smiths.

You sure hold a grudge. I apologize on behalf of Morrissey for taking your money and ruining your night.

Paradise by the Dashboard Light by Meatloaf. Actually anything by Meatloaf. I even stopped eating meatloaf because of that guy.

That is so weird. Just last night I ripped a Eurythmics/Annie Lennox greatest hits CD, and I was listening to that song. I actually like Missionary Man, though, and it brings back fond memories for me.
