This particular thread was started because the Texas UFO got mentioned on the Mac on CBS thread.

But then, after Mac on CBS didn't we start talking about the Beatles? Mr. Brian?

yeah but that was because that CBS segment turned into a Ringo thing and then I divided that topic into a Beatles thread when we were no longer discussing the original topic at all anymore.

I'm not really hardcore on staying on topic but once a thread reaches a certain length and the original topic has dried up, you may as well start a new one.

A correction, this topic was inspired by a comment on this thread regarding Select A Candidate 2008 Quiz

I saw a UFO heading north just after the grapevine. It was a low flying object with the bottom covered in lights hovering over the freeway. Cars were slowing and pulling to the side of the freeway. I was talking to a friend on my cell and told him "I gotta go there's a UFO". The thing then came down and turned away. I couldn't hear a thing as it turned it and started to keep pace with the cars who hadn't pulled over. I looked at it through the trees and it seemed very slim and agile. The shape seemed like a giant wing. My first thought was crop duster but I didn't hear anything and it was completely dark. It still may have been something explainable. Probably was but I still don't know what it was. It was pretty cool.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I'm kind of disgusted with that guy for not shooting the UFO.

They really should take away his Texas citizenship or at the very least have Cheney fly in and shoot him in the face. Despicable!

Now that I thought about it do you want to start an intergalactic war we probably won't win over a dude named Bobby Joe?

It's all covered...

The Pentagon announced TODAY the formation of a new 500-man elite fighting unit called the United States Redneck Special Forces (USRSF)

These boys will be dropped off in Texas and have been given only the following facts about aliens:

1. The season opened today.
2. There is no limit.
3. They taste just like chicken.
4. They don't like beer, pickups, country music or Jesus.
5. They are directly responsible for the death of Dale Earnhardt.

Just to be safe we better tell them the South won and not to invade the North.

Or it was just a distraction to keep the populace's attention away from what was really happening at the time -- cold war, the soviets, etc. Just like today -- making men sex addicts through viagra and putting anti-depressants in birth control pills. Anything to keep us from questioning our leaders regarding the economy, global warming, the war.

Who is putting anti-depressants in birth control pills? Also, Viagra was approved by the FDA in '98 when the economy was roaring and the only war going on was the war in Kosovo which hadn't quite gotten going yet. Are you implying the Clinton administration developed Viagra to distract us from the Dot.com bubble and impending air strikes in Yugoslavia?
