Also, though the drill will go through the case, the case and the disk can be accessed by drilling all the screws out at the edge. Once the disk is exposed, destroying it is far easier- put enough holes in it until it looks like cheese, and twist off bits with pliers when it's weak enough. Then put the bits in a tray in the oven on full for two hours. Randomly separate the bits of disk and put them in three separate rubbish collections.

Actually I'm more paranoid about my bank account being emptied. That having been said, I don't think there is anything covered by thought-crime law on my drive,with the possible exception of some bomb-making manuals which I have erased and committed to memory.
Since it would be my moral duty to kill anyone who imposed thought-crime law on me, it is better that I destroy my drive rather than misguided people.
