Yeah, the croaking raspy thing he's got going on now is so much better.

Actually, I just watched the whole thing. In a nutshell, this is what made the Bunnymen so great. You had the jamming, the voice, the songs, him playing Pinky, the look, all four original members. It looks like they were told to play two songs and, boy, did they play the piss out of them.

This is how I'd like to remember the band. It's why I became a fan.

Thanks for finding this KOK!

That was a class performance. They came back on in the early hours to play the Velvets' 'Run Run Run' (with a couple of lines of 'Show me the way to go home' thrown in for good measure). There was some great stuff on Whistle Test in the mid '80's, this being one of them.
Purveyor of the 'semi-predictable one-liner (which) embodies the essence of the type of comedic crap we grew to love here. VB is a crazy fool'

Ah, The Old Grey Whistle Test - my first proper music show I'd sometimes watch as a young whippersnapper, that and The Tube.

Amazing the change in performances. Same song, two different bands.

Time has taken its toll.

Never again to be.

I love that pink guitar and wish he'd take it out of retirement for the December shows.

Time for a little BOF love.

That 88 video is excellent.

When I look at my signed copy of the OR show, I am quite sure that if I were to meet Will or Mac there is no way I'd be able to say how I feel about their music the past ten years.
I wonder if that makes me a hypocrite.

And as much as Pete and Peasy like to paint us here as the anti-bunnymen, I keep hoping their next cd will show the creativity they once they had.

That's one of my favorite youtube videos of the Bunnymen. Great performance and The Game sounds way better than the album version. Listening to this and the original/demo version of Satellite and I think it's pretty clear that these (and possibly other songs on the album) were completely neutered when recorded and mixed for the Grey album. Album could've and should've been better. Although, it's still better than most of the new stuff.

Ian left the coolest band in the world for shit. Wrecked everything. Jesus. Some days I still hate him.
