Radiohead's OK Computer came out that year too along with Yo La Tengo's I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One and Urban Hymns by The Verve.

I guess the Sleater-Kinney album that came out that year just slipped your mind.

1997 also Depeche Mode going the closest to full on grunge they ever got.

Songs of Faith and Devotion came out in 1993.

Ultra - I don't hear any grunge on that one.

Am I the only one that does not understand the world's fascination with Radiohead?

Björk's best solo album (in my opinion), Homogenic, was released in September 1997.

No you are not. I couldn't see the fuss over OK Computer at all - but I did like the band's last two albums and Thom Yorke's solo album.

According to my iTunes library 1997 saw the release of:

The Adverts - The Singles
Built to Spill - Perfect From Now On
The Cure - Galore
The Crystal Method - Vegas
Elvis - Greatest Jukebox Hits
Erasure - Cowboy
The Fall - The Less You Look, the More You Find
Galaxie 500 - On Fire (Bonus Tracks)
Guided By Voices - Mah Earwhig!
The Jam - The Very Best of...
KMFDM - Symbols
Live - Secret Samadhi
Luna - Pup Tent
Michael Jackson - Blood on the Dance Floor - Not sure how that got there.
Morrissey - Maladjusted
Pixies - Death to the Pixies
Recoil - Unsound Methods
Roy Orbison - The Very Best of...
Siouxsie and the Banshees - The Best of...
Sleater-Kinney - Dig Me Out
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Wow, some big albums came out that year. Ladies and Gentlemen is also one of my favorite albums, love it. I remember listening to Yo La Tengo's album a lot years ago.

It's kind of a hackneyed reference.

Eat a dick. It's no more hackneyed then the Bunnymen's setlist.

Yes, but it was a talkie.

I wonder if Ted Turner ever got around to colorizing it.

fair point, but they did have maverick management duo drummond & balfe doing the business end. This bloke seems to be on about doing it yourself.
