bwqp killed his/herself when he/she realized the bof was beyond parody.

Mac + Will + Les + Pete = classic

Although the Grey Album had all four I'd say it's only half classic.

So...

2. Mac + Will + Les = Half way there like Evergreen but still 4ish.

3. Mac + Will = Mac solo album a la the Fountain

4. Mac = Mac solo album a la the Fountain

5. Will = creative, interesting instrumental tunes

6. Will + Les = ?

yes but didn't Pete bug out for a bit during this time so he wasn't fully on board and then Mac was taking the helm and leaving Will and Les out a lot? I don't recall all of the details but that's how I recall things were going around the time of the Grey Album. Basically they were breaking up.

The drummer from ABC did the original recordings which were scrapped when Peter returned.

Don't forget Latham's poor production skills.

A also recall Will or maybe Mac saying that they approved the mixes over the phone or something too. I think there was plenty of blame to go around.

I blame Peter, Pete and Peasy for the Grey Album.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

True. This was supposed to be the one to break them big - and if I remember correctly from the book Never Stop Latham was pretty much in the studio alone once he had the tracks with no input from the band. Or a Bill Drummond type influence around.
