The HD version of In Bluer Skies on You Tube seems to be of reasonable quality. Probably my favouritist Bunnymen song along with Higher Hell, My Kingdom, Heads Will Roll and Going Up. Just wish they had put Higher Hell and In Bluer Skies into their setlist in recent years - I would of been an enthusiastic newbie always, complete with dribble coming out of one side of my mouth.

Flaming Red. Do like that song, but I kind of find it similar to The Killing Moon soundwise. Very much on par with that, which means Mac's claims that The Killing Moon is the second or first [Bunnymen] greatest ever song written is bollocks. Who had the writing credits for Flaming Red? I thought that Noel Burke was more responsible for the lyrics other than a few songs that he wrote entirely himself for Reverberation. Yes, no?

you seem to be covering all bases the gp - since reverberation is one of the last albums ever to be made that only had a few songs on it - unlikew the hour and a half of padding you get with every album these days.

Reverberation is one of the most consistently brilliant albums the Bunnymen have written, comparable to Heaven up Here. It even has a similar structure-the A-side hints at great things, and the B-side fulfils that greatness at an ever increasing pace ending in a crescendo of sheer awesomeness. Even Thick Skinned World is their answer to No Dark Things, in the same place but totally original like a breath of fresh air, not some pathetic attempt to regain former glories with ever decreasing results.

So why can't they do as good albums now? Mac no doubt with his delusional "it's what the kids want" ideas.

It's the Porcupine promo video thingy one that I was referring to rather than live. I think In Bluer Skies has only been performed once in 1983, but I might be wrong.

Anyway.

well half the bands gone. proof that you need a good rythm section and they be allowed to influence the goings on. or they've lost their mojo. I'll go wit hthe dead drummer and the boatbuilding lorry driving bass player theory meself.

has that video been tinkered with then or has evils finally got the time machine working, snuck in and quietly got rolling?

i like how they wore the same outfits in all the videos on porcupine. this was my first lesson in the unfairness of "region" - when i got a copy of PORCUPINE on vhs in late 80's from holland, got it home to detroit put it in player and it didnt work. just static - no sound. i was so bummed! i

You should play "Jessie's Girl". People love that song.

They only played it a couple of times in 83, but they played it on every date on the Dec 82 dates..... Not quite sure why they dropped it as it was a great live tune......

Yup. You were lucky to be able to hear that track done live even if it was 27/28 years ago. Shame really and I don't expect to ever hear it or Higher Hell live now.

Thanks for that link. Though it looks like I might have to make a trip to the internet café to get the full HD in a reasonable download time. Out with the "atube" ripper.
But I'd really like to buy this on DVD or (assuming the original was on 16 mm film?) Blu-Ray. Why are Warner's holding back? Perhaps they are waiting for Mac to drop dead so as to exploit the commercial opportunity at the right time? Despite his smoking and drinking habits, those alien genes of Mac keep regenerating him and even his voice and talent occasionally (Kansas, Of a Life, In The Margins), so I suggest they stop this nonsense and release all the rare videos right now, or better still as a movie, along with "They Shine so Hard"-what happened to that-is it available?
As for Flaming Red/ Thick Skinned World , wouldn't it be great if these two classics turned up on YouTube?
