La Roux

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

La Roux

Seems she has cancelled yet again. I was planning to see her show in Southampton tonight.
Don't know what the problem is this time, though I have found something better, so I'm not that bothered.
Better than turning up and putting on a rubbish show I suppose. Mentioning no names.
Ellie looks as if she needs fattening up with a few pork pies.

I think I could probably think of a hundred things better to do than enduring a live performance of La Roux's retro synthpop, so IMHO your money is well saved. I'd even carry on watching the second half of Algeria v Slovenia in the WC... erm, maybe not.

Apparently there was a goal in the second half.

Yes and it was a worse goalkeeping blunder than the one currently on my avatar. It looked so odd that I'm a little suspicious of the match result, as no one could seriously be that bad. Still, it's great for England for once to facing a dodgy keeper in their game on Friday. Good match to play to recover from the US's 1-1 win last night, so they seemed to have thought it was. You Americans, you kill me

That's mental and beats some of the mad stuff that has come out over here in the past (see below). For one thing, wasn't Bunker Hill won by the British?

Is that from Gareth Southgate's scrapbook?

Seems very fashionable to knock the 80's these days. But most of this decade made the 80's look great, so in the absence of any new Joy Division/Echo & the Bunnymen/Chameleons UK type first division bands, and the Bunnymens total abdication from greatness, I thought she would do.
A driving 80s synthpop beat with the passion of Dusty Springfield is a worthwhile proposition. Of course, after seeing a Rozi Plain set, not just first division but in a completely new league, I realised I was wasting the train fare and am glad for the refund.

I rather like her song Bulletproof, but missed her performance at Coachella because I got heat exhaustion.

But then, it could be the chickpop aspect of LaRoux that annoys whereas Yazoo and Eurythmics had a more universal appeal--as did Depeche. She has the right influences. In any case, we shall see where it goes from here.
I long for the pork of Porcupine. (A slide show dedicated mostly to Will right here.... http://www.examiner.com/rock-music-in-l ... -here-tour)
