Kind of more exciting than news of any new Bunnymen material at the present time really.

The songs on the the two albums he appeared on are credited to Mercury Rev plus their sound changed so drastically when he left he must have helped write the songs.

But I remember that rumor and had always hoped something would come of it. He's kind of out there like Will. I think it would work.

Baker is a studio engineer in Chicago and has produced for a bunch of bands I've never heard of.

Good point. I'm sure he had an input into the music. I think it'd be very interesting if the two got together. But regardless, awesome news that Les is playing the bass again, and with Will which is even better. Hopefully it's on the whole album.

I'd like to hear more of an "organic" approach than Curvature (even though it was really good).

I can just imagine the sarge picking up the phone and mrs sarge saying, "who you calling william, you know we only use the phone after 6 and at weekends" and he says "i'm just running a few ideas past me old mate withahip, who surelly has a brain of such high artistic integrity and taste that i want to be assured i dont make any mistakes, what like mac did on that last album", and mrs sarge then says "mac?" in a mildly interested voice and sarge says, "you know...mac, with the hair, and the glasses", she looks blank and then a light switches on and she says"oh, that one who sings in your pop group?" and he says "yes", but before he can continue she says, not without a certain amount of bile and venom, "and has that child bride with the baby and all", and then a pause "and EATS MEAT", "yes " interjects the sarge, " him, well he never asked the old hipster anything apart from "eh, mate, can you fuck off out of my toilet" so you can see why I'm putting my trust in him", oh says mrs sarge, is he a producer or something, or a musician in whom you trust, like LES for instance, or just one of those happening dudes who seem to know where its at, a scenester, as it were?", no saysd the sarge, just some bloke on the internet, but I've heard he listens to alot of old records so its good enough for me", "OK", says mrs sarge, "well dont be long, your linda mcartney quorn burgers are on the table". and the scene fades.....

the piano line on cosmos, that sounds fairly acoustic to me.

my point being, after space age freak out and performance you wouldn't have said glide ever sounded like deep purple but there it was on curvature of the earth. plus you know, slamming an album before it comes out, its not the VT way is it now. fnar.

I'd still say acoustic could mean anything, not necessarily an acoustic guitar - strings and all that stuff, maybe they've recruited budgie and his massive japanese drums since he and siouxsie are no longer speaking, les playing a double bass - or even one of those big fat acoustic bass guitars, a bit like what those mariarchi blokes use, now theres a vision, will and les in full mexican regalia wandering the tables at the pizza joint whilst mac crooons on the micro stage in the corner. anway our new chum mr hakeswill seem to know what goes on in the simpson camp. your not suggesting he's winding us up are you?
