Pulp - His N' Hers/Different Class/This is Hardcore Deluxe

Just picked these three up and motherfucker there is some great material. I love His N' Hers era Pulp and the sleazy sound at the time. Sleazy but still somehow heartfelt. The standout unreleased tracks are

Frightened
Watching Nicky
Your Sister's Clothes
The Boss
Seconds

Actually they're all top form Pulp.

Haven't gone through the other two unreleased tracks but I know Jarvis & Co. won't let me down.

Seconds is like one of my all-time favourite Pulp songs.. ever (screams like a girl). Street Lites and You're a Nightmare great songs as well. You're not Blind - I think is just a rehash of Babies, although it does sound different.

It's amazing from start to finish. From the opening of The Fear all the way to Like a Friend it perfectly captures the dread of middle age and realizing that life is passing you by and you may not be where you had hoped.

Or so I'm told. I'm a successful, rich, powerful 26 year old with six pack abs so I wouldn't know.

If anyone wants the alternate version of Like a Friend from the Great Expectations soundtrack just let me know and I'll post it. I like it better than the album version.

Nah... His n' Hers for me. I didn't like much of Pulp after Different Class came out. Disco 2000, Common People and all that shit. Hardcore was better, mostly because of the title track (which is probably one of Pulp's greatest songs). Russell Senior's departure and they'd lost a vital part of the sound (violin). And it was annoying hearing them putting a violin sample on The Fear, although the song itself is good. I enjoyed We Love Life more than Hardcore and Different Class combined.

Probably said it before, but after getting bored of Pulp between Different Class and This Is Hardcore, I started looking around for other bands. That was when I came across a certain band through a certain widely played top ten single and subsequent album, and then bought the back catalogue of four excellent albums and one so-so. So I guess, I owe Jarvis Cocker and Pulp for a further 13 years of delight, anger and despair following another band.

Another one of me fav Pulp songs while I am at it, even if it does have a slightly filthy chorus.
