Would it have been better if Mac had died after Ocean Rain?

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

A poet lives forever in his verses

A musician lives forever in his music

Artistic life is another dimension

There are no in-betweens.."

Chrissakes, Dave! They're being poetic.

Watch out where the huskies go
Don't you eat that yellow snow

There, that's better
Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

I wish Mac a long, happy life. I look forward to many, many great gigs in the future.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

We would have been left with four peerless albums, his image would never age...he would forever have that hair, that voice, those interviews. There would be plays, films... a museum. Will, Les and Pete could have retired on the royalties. Pete would never have needed to get on his motorbike that fateful day and would still be with us.

Every generation would discover the Bunnymen like they do Joy Divison and The Doors - they would, in short, be immortal.

Just a thought.

I still wish someone one would grab a hold of him and make him well. I mean, seriously, peeps Depeche Mode sound absolutely fabulous. Martin Gore's voice on the one solo track he sang on Sounds of the Universe (Jezebel) was exquisitely beautiful. Dave Gahan can still belt out the tunes, but Gore's voice is really full yet light and sweet. They sounds just as good if not better than 30 years ago. Mac's voice on the old albums takes your breath away like that. How much better could he be if he were in better vocal health? I feel cheated out of the Mac that could have been. And I mean seriously, out of all the 80s groups, who knew that one of the weirdest of them would last the longest. OK, at least in the US they were considered weird, though I hear they were teen idols in Germany.

Agreed.

If he was sober and in good physical condition (no bronchitis, acid reflux, sore throats) he would rule the world.

Maybe this is his own particular form of suicide.

It's such a shame.

Arse licking posts like that seems to be the way VT is going nowadays. I prefer the old days when all we talked about was Kook's tits and Frank was still Frank.
