Black Cat DC show

Postby camden jack » Sun May 02, 2010 6:48 am

Don't shoot the bearer of good news, but the DC show was fantastic. Everyone seemed in glum, pissed, or in worried moods before the show, even the stage hand . Peasy was positioned in the wings like a hypertensive football manager. But the night came off close to perfect. Haven't heard them sound this good since the dowloads of the Dec. Liverpool shows. The music was great, Mac's voice was in really good shape - much better than the earlier shows this week. He was in a great mood, and in control, well in control of himself. The sell out crowd was very enthusiastic, which helped the mood. A good number of serious fans down front. There was really a Will appreciation section down front on Will's side showing him some love. No one seemed to piss Mac off in the crowd, or if so he kept mum, and he didn't say or do anything to offend anyone. Everything in good taste. The lights were left on and left up to the lighting guy. Mac looked fit, really good. And he was his old charming self. The banter was kept to a very minimum and was actually funny and an addition to the show. Someone had to actually ask Mac to "tell us one, mac." Near the end of the show, everone seemed pleased it came off so well. The mood was transformed. It was all about the songs last night and it was great.

Will was his gracious gentlemanly self and made time to talk to the fans. His hour of DJing after the show was amazing. Ony his impeccable musical selections could have gotten me up dancing at that late hour. I'm so glad that this was the show I got to see. I don't know what happened with Mac, Will, and Peasy between Wednesday and Friday, but whatever it was got the mess sorted out. Just hope this continues for the New York shows and the rest of the year. Everyone involved deserves the postive results that this approach produces.

And Kelley had an amazing night as well. So taleneted, what a performance! I'm sure a lot of that crowd will be checking out his stuff. His dad attended the show and what a sweet man, chatting to everyone as we waited in line. Great night all around.

Oh - Will suggested that they intend to do some of the Crocs/HUH shows in the US as well. Hope this actually works out!

How dare you bring that type of filth onto this forum. We're respectable, God fearing citizens here and we don't tolerate that sort of thing.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Having said that count me in for any L.A. Crocodiles/Heaven Up Here shows. Would have preferred a Crocodiles/Porcupine show but that's just me and my impeccable tastes.

Sorry, someone has to dish the dirt. Thought this might ruin someone's morning.
I'm really interested to see if last night and tonight go as well.

As far as a Porcupine show, I distinctly heard 2 operatic high notes attempted and achieved Friday night. Live in hope.

If Mac is focused he can get those high notes. I think the album shows mean more to him than some greatest hits jaunt across the US and UK. He probably sleepwalks through those things. I would love to hear him make a go at "Porcupine" and especially "Clay".

I contend the fight is the best thing to happen in years. Mac channeling a little Axl Rose is always a good thing.

Despite our reputation we're actually eternal optimists here.

Thanks for the review.

A Scouser doesn't need to channel Axl Rose.

The thought of "channeling" Axl Rose makes me feel a little ill.

Even Axl Rose isn't channeling Axl Rose these days.
He appears to be channeling Lil Wayne and/or Venus or Serina Williams

Oy. Is that a botox shine?

Regardless, I still kind of like "Sweet Child O' Mine," but I won't admit to it in open court.

I forgot I was the only Guns N' Roses fan on the forum.

ITM I read he had some chemical peel which explains why he's always shiny and pink.

And Frank and I would wear cornrows if we had enough hair left.

It was a great show. I would point out, however, that Mac forgot the words to "I Think I Need It Too" completely and the song had to be aborted. At first, I thought they would just start over, but they moved on to "All My Colours." Mac said something about how all the lines sounded the same and he couldn't remember them. I took this incident less as a disturbing disappointment than an interesting eccentricity from a band attempting to promote a new album. There was little material from recent years and no other attempt to play songs from the new album.

On the plus side, I did enjoy greatly the imitation of Winston Churchill and the impression of Jimmy Durante doing Duran Duran covers ("Rio" and "Planet Earth").
