When I was young Robotech meant everything to me and was an escape from my stepfather at the time. It was a pretty amazing feeling when I got to take my son to the LA premiere of Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles and it was all because of Carl Macek.

I don't think Star Blazers was shown in the UK. All I remember is Battle of the Planets, which I regularly watched as kid.

Loved Battle of the Planets but Robotech was the first show I emotionally was invested in. I loved the characters and was crushed when Roy Fokker and Ben Dixon died. I wanted to be Rick Hunter. When the final episode ended with Rick Hunter missing in space it left a feeling of emptiness that lasted for 20 years until finally they made a sequel. At the premier my son and I got to meet the actor who voiced Rick Hunter and he was super cool and spent some time talking to my son. It's weird how Robotech affected so many people. And it's a pretty close knit community. When they took it off the air I was about 8 or 9 and I went door to door in my neighborhood gathering signatures for a petition to bring it back.
