SF Fillmore show tonight 4/19

Postby redgumball » Mon Apr 19, 2010 3:35 pm

Can't wait to see the bunnymen tonight at the Fillmore in SF, post Coachella.

1). Any setlist from last night's Reno show?
2). Is there an opening band for EATB in SF?
3). What time do they usually take the stage and how long do they play for?
4). Anyone from the boards going tonight? Meet-up for beers?

Peasy's blog on bunnymen.com/news said that Kelley Stoltz will be opening for them because Social Hatcham can't get here (assuming it's because of the volcano ash).

He makes it sound like it's for the entire tour.

Go Kelley!

its true - i got a call on friday night would i be available for the SF show and by saturday it was suggested to do the whole tour as volcano was still acting up -- so by sunday i had it and was rehearsing with a patchwork band - some of my guys couldnt get time off for two weeks that quickly so i got a fill in drummer and scaled down to 4 piece - we did pretty good and it was a real thrill playing at the fillmore for the first time and opening up for my heroes after 25 years of fandom... ian and will were both friendly and i shared a glass of wine with mac after the gig and met his daughter candy who was there as well. Ian made me feel quite at home and said he was glad i was on the tour == must say mac was in fine spirits, joking around and sang great too... they did a little happy death men in soundcheck! This morning the old fan in me returned and i waited in line at best buy with 50 others and had my september song 12" signed. mother nature has made my dream come true and so its off to chicago tomorrow.

Seriously though, congrats and good luck! Usually I go to the Chicago shows but I couldn't swing it this time in the middle of a week. Bring back lots of stories for us pickled onions!

I wouldn't do that Kelley, unless you want to be a war correspondent. Still, great to see you doing a Bunnymen support slot. Personally, I think you should do a support slot for the Bunnymen Crocs/HUH dates in the UK in December as well!

Even better Kelley you could play songs from Crocs and HUH in support of Crocs and HUH.Fans then vote which one they preferred!:)

The thought did cross my mind. Although both albums twice would be too much in one night. Perhaps Kelley could join the band on stage to enhance the performance or he could hide at the back of the stage to sing the bits Mac won't be able to do properly on HUH. Mac could mime. Nobody would know, apart from us of course.

Indeed I am. However much I like the Bunnymen [up until their most recent release], I cannot listen non-stop to their albums or put two albums that have been played back-to-back on repeat. To me, it's like savouring a fine wine or eating your favourite food. Too much at once is too much and the enjoyment fades. A little here and there and I come back often for more at a later time. Listening to Crocodiles and HUH twice in one night, even if there was a variation in one of the performances would be a little too much.

I didn't know we had a rock star on our humble forum.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts
