So you're saying there's a way I can go back and save The Exploding Hearts?

i've often wondered about that. not that I'm a 'make science real in films' freak or something, after all we've already accepted that this bloke came from another planet and can fly, so thats all cool with me, but (a) wouldn't all the people fall over as the earth came to a halt - like you do when the bus stops suddenly and youre standing because a lady was in need of your seat - and (b) would time really go backwards? If so yes, you could save the exploding hearts. But then to get back to here, would you have to spin the earth at ten times the normal speed or something or would we all have to go through the last [insert number of years since the hearty people died] years again. And would we know about it and not make all the shit mistakes (as opposed to good ones) again. I can think of the odd mishap I'd like to put right on the way back. OMG. this time travels really interesting isn't it - though I think we need jack to resolve the issues, he always comes across as quite brainy.

My seven year old asked me this week what would happen if the world stop spinning. I didn't have a very good answer so I said everybody would float into space.

thats a good answer. I've a feeling i was told something like that as a young boy myself. Didn't sleep for weeks afraid the world would stop spinning and i wouldn't be able to get either my gravity boots or my oxygen mask on in time. maybe we need a 'cool questions the kids asked us we couldn't answer' thread. I've got a few I'm sure.

I was terrified of the sun burning out when I was a kid. I think it was that Twilight Zone episode that did it. The Midnight Sun.

Gravity would still work fine, but a day would last a year, and the weather would be severely screwed up. The biosphere would probably collapse.

Yeah BF, the world spins, right. Next thing you'll be telling us the fucking thing is round as well and that people actually live in Australia without falling off. Some people will believe any old shite the so-called scientists tell them. Not me, I can think for myself, you can't fool me.

Easy there Bill. I wasn't going so far as to suggest anything not tied down would last in Australia. Stop putting words in my mouth.

Do you have red rubber boots, a cape and underroos?

If you wear them on the outside, give them underroos a quick wash BF, there's nothing worse then skid-marked superheroes. :vomit:

There's no washing that out. One skid mark was so severe I stubbed my toe on it.
